CycleOps Fluid2 -

CycleOps designed its Fluid 2 Trainer to give you one less excuse for not sticking with your riding routine when the cold weather strikes. The engineers behind this design know that part of what keeps us from riding indoors are those obnoxiously loud, unpredictable trainers that don’t quite give us that real-world road feel. Well, those days are behind us, as the new Fluid 2 Trainer is quiet, smooth, provides a consistent level of resistance, and is easy to set up. Now you're able to spin away in the comfort of your home this winter season with the silky-smooth Fluid 2.

First off, what makes a fluid trainer different from a magnetic trainer is the resistance unit. Rather than being a giant magnet, the unit is encased in hydraulic fluid. Unlike a magnetic unit, where the resistance is external and variable, a fluid trainer relies on pedal speed to increase resistance. Therefore, the harder you pedal the more resistance you experience. Additionally, CycleOps uses Power Band technology that makes the level of resistance also a function of gearing and cadence. This gives you a range from 20 watts to 725 watts, with a single trainer. The Fluid 2 has a cooling mechanism so that no matter how many watts you produce, you won't see billows of smoke.

The Fluid 2's two-inch roller means you'll have a smoother ride with less tire wear. It features a wide, stable base so that you'll feel secure on any surface, and asymmetrical leveling feet ensure you'll always be balanced. The rear wheel mounts easily and a simple cam-lever tightens the resistance unit around the skewer. You won't have to readjust your bike every time you put it on the trainer. Sprint, jump, and time trial without the worry that you'll pull the rear wheel out of the trainer.

The CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer will accommodate tires from 26in to 29in with rear spacings of 120mm, 130mm, and 135mm.

Fit:

  • Updated frame works with all standard wheels and now works with 29er mountain bike wheels (fits most treads to 2.25 in.)
  • Fits 26", 27" and 700c or 20-24" with optional adapter

Fabric:

  • Combine this with a smooth, quiet ride, locking bolt ring and heavy-duty steel construction, and you're ready to sprint, spin and climb with confidence

Padding:

  • The Cyclops Fluid2 bike trainer features adjustable foot pads, a quick release handle, self-cooling mechanism and folding legs for storage

Features:

  • With a quick load cam lever, you simply adjust the resistance once and then lock it into place so there is no guessing each time you put your bike on the trainer
  • There are no manual adjustments needed, simply shift gears as you would when riding outside to increase or decrease the resistance, and the faster you pedal the harder it gets
  • Custom bike skewer provided, lifetime warranty
  • Infinite resistance curve (not available in the Mag Trainer model)
  • New larger flywheel for improved road-like feel
  • Power output easily varies from less than 20 watts to over 725 watts (at an attainable 22.5 mph)
  • Includes a training DVD
  • Not compatible with 29'ers, see Pro Series
  • Spin along with virtually no resistance or hammer out a 2000-watt sprint—you will never outgrow this trainer no matter what training you require
Campmor
The CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer is a great way to keep your legs in tip-top condition during the off season. This trainer features a new larger flywheel with twice the inertia for an improved, road-like feel. The power-band technology offers the widest resistance range--from easy spins to lung-burning climbs--without ever touching the unit. The infinite resistance curve ensures increased wattage as you increase speed for realistic statistical analysis at the end of your ride. It also features a cam-lever that tightens the resistance unit with one movement upon setup. The Fluid 2 is surprisingly quiet, and the self-cooling mechanisms--including a patented fan design--keep the unit performing better, longer. Includes a training DVD to help keep you motivated during your indoor exercise.

Nice Trainer

This is a nice trainer. My wife & I use this as an exercise machine after knee surgery. We have hybrid-bikes with wider tires. It works well for this purpose although it is a little difficult to mount and dismount due to the bike's height when mounted on the trainer. My only compliant is the assembly instructions which come with the bike. They are simply awful although there is video available to supplement what comes with the trainer.

Good quality

Bought this for my wife to use during the cold months. Easy to set up, and seems well-built durable so far. Our first trainer, but the fluid models seem to have a less jerky motion than the magnetic models when starting to spin up. A bit expensive, but well worth the cost if it holds up for several years as we hope.

pretty nice - better than jet fluid pro

I use this alongside a jet fluid pro (a few years older) set up side by side on nearly identical bikes. If I had to chose between the two I would go with the Fluid2 because it is far more easily set up and adjusted. Other than that I have not complaints.
