RAPT 1400

Without more use I cannot recommend this, but so far so good. This is my first training collar, and all I have to do is put it on her now and she listens, but I'm sure that's the nature of the beast. from the first time I put it on my lab, I have tried to stay away from the shock settings. The vibrate is usually enough, and is a feature I had wanted to make sure I had after talking to a buddy that has owned several e collars. I have had this for a little over a month now so we are still working, but I put it on her for obedience every night, and most of the time I could leave the controller in the house. My dog is very stubborn and without incentive she does not respond well to known commands. That being said, I took her to the beach and she got out about 100 yards from me on a flat beach with no obstructions and would not come when called, I tried all settings and could not get a reaction out of her. Finally she came about 10 yards closer to me, and the collar worked. She came right to me after that. I am not sure if it was too loose, if the signal was not strong enough, etc. I had noted that the collar is the antenna, and I have not trimmed it. If this continues I would like to lower my rating to a 3 out of 5, as the 1400 should be good to 1400 yards, and should not be a question within 100 yards. If the issue does not return then this is well worth it.

Great training product

Purchased this collar trainer after reviewing many current collars out there. Settled on this one because of the ease of use and the way it straps onto the hand with quick use of the buttons. I like the vibrate option and the fact that it is waterproof and floats. The collar strap is a little long for our Lab, but we just fold it over--works well on our dog when hunting and when around the house in the yard. He listens much better and is more well behaved when out in the yard or hunting. Nice product, well made and well thought out.
