Starting to grow on me

I own the 300, and I wasn't super happy with it for the first few uses due to a rattling noise in the left side of the reel. After taking it apart a few times and messing with the clicker, which I thought was the problem, I finally noticed that a retaining clip for the spacer on the left side plate was sticking out and occassionally rubbing on one of the plastic gears. I pushed the spacer all the way in and fully engaged the retaining clip, all good now. The drag is just okay in terms of smoothness, so I'm going to upgrade to Carbontex next. One nice thing I noticed during my dissassembly is that this reel actually has "dual" anti-reverse, the one-way bearing and a silent back-up pawl under the main gear - a nice unadvertised feature. Considering the drag and small gears, I think this makes a nice 15-pound monofilament reel, and would probably be fine with 20 if needed. I use mine for salmon in freshwater/estuary, and shallow water jigging in the ocean, works great for both. I like it better than the ABU BCX series, but not as much as the ABU C-series.

YEAR! after YEAR! Performance

I have two reels I have had for 12 years, they still work great, two I have for 5 years they still work great. I am getting ready to buy two more. For my money there is nothing else. Customer Service is the best I have ever seen. Can't go WRONG.

Reel for Real

This Diawa Millionaire Classic Casting Reel 300 is the real deal. It is so smooth to retrieve and very easy to spool.
Will use it this summer on the Kenai River in Alaska to
battle the Kings.

Good reel

I bought this reel for the specific purpose of loading fly line with lead core for purpose of trolling flies in Eagle Lake and it is perfect for the job. I recommend highly.
