Good quality high value ultralight rods

I have owned and/or fished with these rods in 5 1/2, 6, and 6 1/2 foot models. I prefer the 5 1/2 foot model for streams and the 6 1/2 foot model for larger bodies of water (i.e. lakes and rivers). I find these rods very adequate in terms of sensitivity. Perhaps not as sensitive as some higher end rods. Daiwa calls these fast action, and they do have a fast tip, but the overall rod is somewhat parabolic with a lighter butt section. I haven't this to be an issue as the rods cast accurately and the flexibility in the lower portion of the rod actually helps fight big fish. I landed a 22 inch brown on 4 lb test and actually horsed him through some current, so I would call these rods definitely adequate in terms of backbone. Hooksets have also been positive. The guides are excellent-durable ceramic is used with a zirconium tip top guide, and the number of guides is optimal for rod length. I like the balance and feel of the 5 1/2 foot and 6 1/2 foot rods. The 6 footer seemed a little tip heavy to me, however. I once picked one of these rods up from another store (not Cabelas) and the blank was warped towards the tip, causing some minor inaccuracy with really light jigs. I also broke the tip off of one getting it out of the truck, which was my fault, but under the circumstances a couple of my other rods probably would have held up. Overall, this is my favorite ultralight in class.

Spinmatic UL rod

I bought the 6 foot 2 piece rod about 3 years ago and have been using it often for brook trout in small lakes. This is a great rod and it's matched with an Abu Garcia Ultra-Light Pro Max reel that I bought from Cabela's many years ago. I use 2 lb test Tectan mono. This rod is not floppy or flimsy but a nice fast action for positive striking force and sensitivity yet feels light and delicate in the hand. I gave it 5 stars because of the quality versus the price. You won't find better at such a low price.

Great Rod for the price

Before buying this rod I was searching for the shortest rod I could find then I stumbled across the Daiwa spinmatic, I purchased the 4' model and paired it with an ultra light reel and it was a great backup rod, it performed well. I can't wait to pair it with the Daiwa SS700 spinning reel I just ordered.

Spinmatic rod

I like this rod because it is light and flexiable and has very
good action. I purchased this rod because I already have one
I purchased a couple of years ago. This rod replaced one that
accidentaly ended up at the bottom of a lake. Good by for the $$$
