Outstanding performance

Bought this reel at the Buda Cabelas in the bargain bin. Figured it could function as a spare reel. Two years and countless bass later, it has become my go-to reel. Just got back from the coast for it's first taste of the "salt", and it whipped specks, reds, and one 25lb stingray that was snagged. This was the 1300 series at that with 20lb power pro. Talk about a powerful smooth drag! I was so impressed that I just bought two more 1300's for my wife and daughter, and a 1600 for the "Bull Red" run in the fall. You can't go wrong this classic if performance is more important than flash.

Great Drags

While I have never been a fan of Diawa tackle I have been fishing these reels for over 20 years. They have the best light tackle drags I have ever seen on any spinning reel, including reels that cost hundreds of dollars more. I use these reels in saltwater and they have held up extremely well. Not only do they have the best drags, the best folding handle but when you add in their durability and low cost they are the best value in light taclkle spinning reels.

unsurpassed

If you could own only one reel, this would be the one. The design is decades old and yet it remains in Daiwa's inventory. The older ones made in Japan are coveted 'treasures'.
