| Poor old Daiwa. Always the poor, ugly sister. The most underated, underdog of all things piscatorial. I have used Daiwa's for years. Used to think fishing success was about luck, tide, weather, feeding cycle, moon phase, experience, information or whatever, but today, with all of the pressure, it is about the equipment. I have use most popular brands, but have stuck to Daiwa for years. They are a value and they do not break. There is another reel compay out there that also makes bicycle parts--they shoud stick to that. They are over-priced and underperform. Many of the 25+ Daiwas I have, I bought at Dick's. When my son was 4, 5 and 6 I taught him to fish with a spinning reel. He loved it. What he did not love was that we owned, at that time, several different Daiwa models. So, at Dick's, I bought 10 of the same of everything: Daiwa Regals, 1500s,2000s,2500s and 3500s. We put them on the same rods but with slightly different actions and we used 4, 6 and 8 pound test line. Simple. Then, no matter where we were fishing or what we where fishing for, we had the same look, feel and attributes. It was certainly the right choice. My son is 19 and fishes with me not often enough, but he still remembers the day we stood in Dick's and bought 10 Daiwas--much to the astonishment of the salesperson, "what are you guys doing?" We are stocking up. Would you buy ten different golf clubs from ten different makers to shoot one game of golf? | |
