Danner GTX II Snake Boots

I just received my Danner GTX Snake Boots. My initial impression is very positive. They are very lightweight and well made. I can find no construction flaws evident and the boots have a neat and tidy appearance and styling. I have only worn them around the house a few times but the footbed and padded tongue and padded upper shoe collar are very comfortable. The sole is comfortable and provides good traction, yet not so much as to clog up with mud or debris. The boots are stiff when new, hopefully they will break-in easily. I would definitely consider some break-in time before planning a hunt with these boots as your primary foot wear. A finger loop on the upper back to help pull them on/off would be a nice feature. That isn’t a necessity but is helpful for such tall boots. My biggest caution is that they seem narrow for their sizing. I have always worn a size “D” width and this boot seems just a bit tighter than others. I have other Danner boots in width D and they fit fine. However, these are just a bit narrow and definitely tighter than I am accustomed to. I am considering returning them for the wider “EE” width.

Best boot for the money

They cost a little more than many other boots but they are worth every penny. I have stepped on several Rattle Snakes and it hurt them a whole lot more than it hurt me. I like the higher sides my boots have also. They feel great on my feet. Don't waste your money on the others (I've owned many of them) get the real thing. Get Danner boots or stay on the porch. I've had mine for a couple of years and I love them.

Must need boots!

I recently purchased these boots because I study reptiles. While in the field I occasionally run across venomous snakes. During the first month I had these boots, I hiked through the swamps in the Everglades and not once did they leak. If you are in a habitat that's swampy and known to have venomous snakes, these boots are necessary.

Not WaterProof

Got these boots this week and wore them around the yard, Then hiked about a mile to break them in. On the way home I walked though a ankle deep stream and guess what -- WET FEET! They are light and fit good, But you can get wet feet for a lot less money!
