Dansko Professional Oiled Casual Clog Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

Bottom line: love the shoes, great Backcountry service (as always), need to try them on locally to find a pair of 42s that fits.
These would have been my 3rd pair of Dansko's in size 42 that I've had. And I've bought them all online from various retailers. This pair was just too tight. I tried wearing them at work for 3 weeks hoping that they'd stretch just enough so that my feet would stop getting numb from arterial smooshing. Nope. I then ordered another pair from different online retailer that had a brick and mortar store locally that I could return to if these didn't work out. Those were too big. Go figure!
So I'm going to return those locally and keep trying on pairs till I find one that is just right. Strange. I wonder if this has anything to do with Dansko changing their factory from Poland to China.

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. I stand on my feet 10-12 hrs a day in a professional kitchen. The only shoes I swear by.
BUT, ...these are not the same shoe from a few years back. These are not the original quality Danish shoes. Dansko split with their manufacturer, Sanita, & now have the shoes outsourced(China, I think). These shoes do not last as long as they used to.
I have had the both soles split from side to side on 2 different pairs in less than a year( 3 months & 5 months apart).
I give it 4 stars only due to Backcountry.com. Their customer service & guarantee policy is the best around. Each time they have made it right without any problems.
Thank you backcountry! You guys rock.

just ordered my 5th pair. I am on my feet all day, everyday, and swear by these! i keep two pair in good condition and alternate between them so they can air out, etc. never had a problem with them! i have had a pair of sanita ( a competitor) and feel that the build and materials of a dansko is of higher quality. Definitely worth trying a pair on or ordering two sizes if unsure. I get about two years out of a pair before I replace them, mainly because of how gross they look on the outside! If you have a higher arch, this may not be the shoe for you. Again, worth trying a pair on before hand.

I've worn Danskos for too many years to be trendy, and now both my mom and dad wear Danksos around the house. I love these shoes, as do my folks. They have a marble floor and wearing anything less than Dankso clogs means your back and legs will ache for days on end. Oh yes -- these clogs are also great for walking around town, be it for a few minutes or a few hours. The only downside I can find with these clogs is that the traction -- well, there is no traction on anything but dry land. Otherwise, these clogs are fantastic.

Feels great during long cases in the OR. I have pretty flat feet, so there was some initial adjusting to the level of arch support in the shoe. Only complaint is that they seem to accumulate a bit of a smell. Otherwise, great shoe and blood cleans off easily (I suppose other stuff would clean off easily too :) ). Typically wear an 11.5US men's shoe, and went with a 45.0 here. Good fit with a little extra room, which is how I think these shoes are designed to be worn.

Ive been a chef for ten years and danskos are all ill wear. Im on probably my 8th or ninth pair. They take some getting used to and breaking in but the literally become an extension of your feet. My feet never hurt, legs never ache and, especially important, my back never hurts because they keep your posture correct. They are also surprisingly very nonslip.
cons: I rarely get more than a year plus out of them but i work 70-80 hrs. a week.

dansko is a danish company that is strictly export. i lived in denmark for 2 years and they dont even carry them there. it's 2 words put together in danish. "dansk" and "sko" which translates into danish shoe. they are super comfy and great for yard work or running to the store in your pj's...i prefer the wooden soles to all of em. feel great on the arches.

I am a student physician and as such am on my feet all day! These are the cure to sore feet and a sore back! Posture is very important in good posture and these support good posture. I absolutely love them! One tip... Buy a size up if you have tall feet as they really don't stretch as most leather shoes do.

these things are awesome.... im on my feet all day in the ER and im not as tired, and my feet dont hurt as much as they used to.
i started wearing them for errands too since they're nice
even though they look plain, their usefulness is unmatched.

Negative Reviews:

I have 4 pairs of Danskos. One pair are the professional oiled in brown that I bought in early 2007. They are super wonderful and comfortable. So I bought some black ones this past Christmas. ('08) BUT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME SHOES!! THEY WERE TOTALLY UNCOMFORTABLE!! I noticed my old ones were made in Poland whereas my new ones were made in China. So I called Dansko and found out that they CHANGED THEIR MANUFACTURERS!!! The shoes are not the same. I am sadly returning these shoes. :(
I also found out that their old manufacturers are now selling the old Dansko clog under a brand called SANITA. I'm getting ready to buy some Sanitas. I wish Back Country carried Sanita so that I could buy them from them. They are a great company and I hope to be a continued customer. Thank you!!

Although they look great, these shoes hurt the crap out of my feet! Not the heel, where one would expect, but I had pain at where the top of the shoe hit the top of my foot. They were so rigid--it felt like it was grinding the bone. I've heard other people say they love them, but they are just not for me. Too bad!

mar4040618 at Backcountry.com on 09/16/2010

I'm not sure if the fact that Sanita's used to make these and now they don't makes the difference, or if they just aren't for everyone, but I could not see getting comfort out of them. Maybe I will get some from the Danish makers next time. I have a pair of Alegrias for work (hospital nursing), and they win over these hands down.

ben3283370 at Backcountry.com on 08/09/2011

I found these clogs to be too tight across the instep. They never loosened up sufficiently to be comfortable. I would up buying a pair of Sanita Professional clogs (the company that made Dansko's on contract until recently), they were comfortable from the start.

Neutral Reviews:

I think I may have bought them too small so make sure you get the size right. after wearing them for two days I realized they pinched a nerve in the top of my foot turning the top of my foot numb. The rocker sole is awesome I just wish I could wear them more. I am a waiter so I am very active in them every night. I am wearing them around to try to stretch them out before I start working in them again so we will see how that goes. Other than being very tight on the top of my foot they are comfy.

Well, I've had them for years. And I finally ordered another pair, after my first pair had lasted since the last Bush administration. When I ordered the same size this time, though, I discovered they'd added reinforcement over the arch. The only problem: where once there was a little 'give' when putting them on, now there's none.
The upside: the clogs would probably last until 2029 before blowing out.
The downside: if the clogs don't fit out of the box, they might never fit.
Therefore: pick your size wisely.

Very good looking shoes, the nonslip seems to work really well. My biggest complaint is the amount of break in needed. I bought a size up like they recommend but they were still to tight on the top of my foot to the point where a nerve got pinched. I am currently stretching them with cans so we'll see how that works.
