Danville Flat Waxed Nylon Reviews:

Not Just for Big Flies

Danville's Flat Waxed Nylon should not be isolated to tying big flies. Tiers should take advantage of its flatness, bright color, and multi-strand qualities. Most tiers appreciate its considerable strength, which it has. But consider how well it flattens for a smooth, tapered body or head, how bright its colors are, especially if it is tied to glow through other materials, how easily it splits for split-thread dubbing, and how versatile it is to shape a body by spinning the bobbin holder in one direction or the other to achieve build-up or flatness. I've just tied many dozens of the Golden Retriever or Dover's Peach Fly in size #10 with palmered Estaz over a red Flat Waxed Nylon body, which replaces red floss. Flat Waxed Nylon is the sole tying thread I use for these flies. Incidentally, these patterns are the go-to flies for many anglers in Virginia.

Flat waxed nylon thread from Danville is by far the best thread to tie big flies, it is really strong and easy to spin. I use it from trout streamers to big saltwater flies.

Very strong thread

This thread just will not break. I've used it for flies from spinning deer hair all the way down to nymphs & foam flies. It's my go to thread.
