DC Axis Jacket -

When gusts of wind filled with powdery snow hammer your bedroom window, gather your snowboard gear, zip up the DC Men's Axis 14 Jacket, and make your way to the resort for some epic riding. Thanks to its waterproof, breathable 15K-rated fabric and fully taped seams, the Axis sheds wet snowflakes like a champ while its mesh-lined vents ditch excess heat during nonstop top-to-bottom pow runs. Lightweight polyester insulation throughout ensures you're not a shivering mess on chilly lift rides or long days on the mountain.

A tailored fit offers slimmer proportions while providing complete comfort, room for layering, and absolute freedom of movement while a powder skirt and Lycra cuff gaiters block out the elements. The Axis's three-way adjustable hood features a hidden head gaiter and shields your face, head, and neck from blustery winds. Two zippered hand pockets, a pass pocket, a media pocket, and an internal mesh stash pocket hold your riding essentials so you always have some cash available when it's time to take a break and grab a slice of pizza.

DC Axis Jacket Review:

I had two immediate thoughts when I removed this jacket from the Zappos box: (1) This has a lot of green. When I saw it online, I was thinking more of a black camo with less green. Be sure to zoom in on the photos. This jacket is more of a play on military camo. (2) This jacket is really thin, especially the hood visor...which is paper thin. On the interior of jacket, around where the middle/bottom of your neck is, is a velcro pocket containing a very thin, black face mask...I think DC calls it a head gaiter. The material inside is black, and nothing spectacular. Ken Block needs to spend less time in his Gymkhana car and more time improving his products. The sleeves were made for an orangutan and the wrist gaiter things have a punched out hole for your thumb...not stitched...just stamped out...which I think would eventually rip (but just my opinion). The hood, which was a bigger fit than the DC Amo jacket (disappointing), can be cinched down to a good fit. On the back of the hood in another cinch cord and black stars are printed for an unknown reason to me. Kind of lame. The jacket has one of those waterproof zippers (no storm flap). Around the chin area on the inside is a soft material over the jacket material. It has holes punched in it for an unknown reason to me. The end of the sleeves (wrist area) has a Velcro closure so they can be cinched. The left sleeve has a zippered pocket towards the wrist area, for who knows what, maybe your mini bong. This jacket has a chest pocket with a waterproof zipper and a cord pass-through so you can keep your music player inside. Although I have been a big fan of DC for many, many years, the products they produce these days are less than impressive. At least before, they produced that black-camo jacket called the Nara, which was 20Kmm waterproof. Now they produce some jacket that's priced higher and is only 10Kmm waterproof. More expensive with less waterproofing. Did Dyrdek come up with that? Like the shoe slogan for DC Unilite: Light shoes weigh less. Due to how thin this jacket is, I ended up doing an exchange. Note to DC: stop looking for cheaper and cheaper materials to make your products out of...and doing so while still charging a high-end price. Please note that the zippers under the arms, on the hand pockets, and on the one sleeve pocket, are not waterproof zippers...they are much cheaper zippers.
