Arm warmers, jackets, vests, base layers — fall is a transitional season, and as such, you'll find yourself donning and doffing layers upon layers in order to keep your core temperature consistent. However, we recommend scrapping the litany of options for just one perfect layer, De Marchi's PRO Long Sleeve Jersey.
De Marchi constructed the PRO long sleeve jersey from a mid-weight, two-layer fabric. This thermal fabric is hydrophobic, meaning that it's incapable of retaining water. So, instead of retaining moisture, the inner thermal layer draws sweat to the outer micro-mesh layer where it rapidly evaporates. This process effectively keeps your skin dry, which of course, leads to keeping your core temperature warmer. To stress the importance of this, let's conduct a little experiment together. First, blow on the back of your hand. Not really cold, right? Now, wet the back of your hand and repeat. Surely, you're experiencing a bit of a chill. Now, just imagine that your breath is 50 degrees, and you'll start to grasp the relevance of this fabric's technology. When cold air comes into contact with damp skin and a tired body, the effect is one of possible hypothermia. This nasty process is what drove Basso out of the this year's Vuelta, so it's best to plan ahead of smart materials.
As for the fit, De Marchi constructed this jersey on a contour, meaning that its seam structure is oriented to the position of cycling. As a result, you'll find that the rear hem is lower while in the standing position, which results in a total level of coverage while you're stretch out over the hoods. This means that the stomach is free from any fabric bunching, while the back is left able to protect against wheel-spray from the road.
The PRO Jersey was designed with three back pockets to hold all of your riding essentials. It's been finished with a full-length zipper and reflective accents that increase your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions.
The De Marchi Pro Long Sleeve Jersey is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Blue and Red.
I totally agree with both reviews below. The quality and fit of this Di Marchi long-sleeve jersey is excellent. The stitching is really superb. The fabric is really nice: just the right thickness (not too thick, not too thin), and breathes really well. The interior of the jersey has a really nice soft (brushed?) nap. And the jersey looks great in blue.
Fit? I am 5'10" (175 cm) and 180 lbs (81 kg). I usually wear a size L in USA clothing. But for me, this long-sleeve jersey in L was too small. The XL is perfect. Arm length is plentiful. Shoulders are perfect. Fit is appropriately snug around the torso (form-fit) to prevent flapping in the wind.
This Di Marchi jersey is stylish, beautifully made, form-fit and thus will fit riders with a body mass index (BMI) of <24/25 best.
Overall I think this is a great jersey. Thicker fabric with a brushed feel inside will make for a really nice early or late season jersey. Just like all other De Marchi items, the quality is top shelf. Really nicely made.
My only gripe, and it is a small one, is that the color is more orange than red. The pic isnt really accurate - at least compared to the jersey I received. Not a deal breaker, just so you know.
This jersey was better than expected, not only is hand made in Italy but the fabric feels so nice and the quality is impeccable. You surely get for what you pay for. I've used it on windy rainy days and it performs awesomely. I wear a short sleeve under layer for over 40 degrees and long sleeve any lower than 40. Just remember this is slim fit jersey.
What's not to like, an italian made pro kit jersey at third tier prices? This middle weight jersey with a luxurious fabric and finish is ideal for fall/spring riding conditions, or given its tight pro fit, can be used as a heavy weight base layer under a jacket. I am 6'1/2" 160 lbs. and find the "XL" to be a nice tight fit.
Good fit, I am 5'8" 150# and the M fits nicely. Got myself a blue. Looks very stylist. Depends on the weather, if it's in the 50's I paired it with a sleeveless base layer and without base layer in the 60's. Seems to work very well for NW fall/spring weather. A good jersey for training or group riding. Handmade in Italia
Great value in well constructed fashionable jersey compared to other euro brands. I like the higher collar for neck warmth. Fleecy interior provides just the amount of warmth for me all by itself in upper 50's to lower 60's. I'm 6 ft and 172 and large gives me a nice snug race fit, but room enough for a base layer.
5' 10" and 174 lbs- a large is snug but comfortable. Well made in Italy, good zipper. I've used it with a thin merino base layer in the 50's, added a vest down to 45 and under a Pearl Softshell jacket down to 38 and windy. Great deal for 50% off!
This is a comfortable, good looking jersey. I wore it recently in 60ish degree weather and the jersey made the ride quite pleasant. The colors make the jersey quite stylish, too.
This has become my favorite jersey. It fits very well, nice warmth and feels and look great. I am already thinking of buying another one.
