Take a close look at the SL Jersey and you'll see the attention to detail that De Marchi is known for, only here, it's addressed with a different approach than some of De Marchi's other jerseys. What we mean by this is that with the SL, De Marchi's designers targeted every angle of the jersey with an entirely new focus: weight reduction. After all, the SL in the title stands for 'super light,' which is precisely what De Marchi did with its new short sleeve jersey. Zippers, pockets, fabrics, you name it, they've all been chosen for their ability to deliver the best results for you on the bike, in the lightest way possible.
For the construction of the SL, De Marchi used three of its lightest fabrics. For the jersey's front and shoulder panels, Dry3 Pro was used primarily for its airy composition and, you guessed it, low weight. This material breathes better than most nylon/Lycra blends, and it rapidly transfers moisture away from your skin to its quick-drying outer-layer. Combined with these lightweight and thermo-regulating properties, Dry3 Pro also smoothly stretches in order to wrap and support your upper body and arm muscles while in the cycling position. At the back of the jersey, De Marchi chose its Dry3D Mesh for the entire rear panel. This generous application of mesh was chosen for its light weight, but also because it provides you with the ultimate in ventilation and comfort. Essentially, this was achieved by targeting this area of your body where moisture tends to collect in high concentration. The jersey's underarms were treated with mesh vents, completing the construction of the SL Jersey. By using two types of mesh and its Dry3 Pro material, De Marchi was able to create a warm weather riding jersey that not only breathes and supports your body, but also weighs in around a svelte 128 grams in a size Large.
De Marchi focused equally on implementing lightweight technical fabrics into the SL as it did to refining the jersey's fit. The goal of the new SL was to create a streamlined jersey with both a maximum freedom of movement and the most breathable, lightweight materials available. As a result, the jersey features a contoured cut. This contoured fit was made possible using the company's Body Framing Lite Technology as a means to stabilize the jersey while in the cycling position. This is accomplished using pre-shaped fabric panels that closely follow the body while in motion. When sewn together, these panels form somewhat of a three dimensional shape on their own, mimicking the body before even reaching your shoulders. The result is a jersey that eliminates all unnecessary material, leading to the best fit possible.
Equally valued by De Marchi are its finishing details. The SL Jersey is no exception, with its thin concealed front zipper, three rear panel pockets, and oversized, high-visibility reflective stripes. Small, square Blue De Marchi logos tastefully adorn the jersey's front and rear.
The De Marchi SL Jersey is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black, Blue, Red, and White. Please note: De Marchi relies heavily on European sizing, so please make your selection accordingly.
This is Di Marchi's best looking jersey (IMHO) and the quality is excellent. Made with obvious pride in Italy, the stitching is really superb. The fabric is beautiful and very light (hence "SL" -superlight). The fabric in the back is a really good looking (and effective) high-tech, breathable, diamond-pattern mesh. Fit is appropriately snug around the torso (pro fit) to prevent flapping in the wind.
And yes, 1/2 zipper in front.
I now own 7 pieces of DiM bicycle clothing; from wool socks to bib-shorts to winter-bibs to various jerseys. I have been -really- happy with all of my purchases. Everything DiM manufactures is stylish and extremely well made. They obviously take a lot of pride in their design and quality. I think you will love your Di Marchi purchase as long as it fits (which is true for all manufactures).
FIT: This is always critical. I am 5'10" (175 cm) and 180 lbs (81 kg). (I need to lose 20 lbs.) Still, I usually wear a size L in USA clothing. But for me, this jersey in L and even XL was too small. The XXL is perfect.
This Di Marchi jersey is stylish, beautifully made, and will fit riders with a BMI of <25 best. Size up one (or two) sizes depending upon your BMI.
Actually it's a 3/4 zip not full-length zip as described in tech specs. Please correct the spec!
