Detco Marine Propspeed Foul Release System -
New performance coating for propellers

Unlike conventional antifouling paint which does not adhere well to underwater metal, or when it does, reduces performance, this unique, environmentally-friendly, two-part coating system bonds to your boat's propeller and running gear with no recoating needed for a year or more. Its "foul release" formulation reduces drag by preventing marine growth from attaching, resulting in fuel savings, and improved top end speed and performance. Easily applied by an experienced applicator, well versed "do-it-yourselfers" can also apply this coating by following the included application guide.

Propspeed

This is an excellent product but it is all in the application. Expect it to last 12-18 months. If you delay the application between the etching primer and the clear coat you have wasted your money. If you have not prepped the running gear properly you have wasted your money. If you do not let it dry at least 8 hours you have wasted your money.

Apply Carefully

Depending on weather conditions, this stuff can set up so fast it becomes ineffective. But if you get it right, there won't be a single thing on the blades when you haul out after a year. I use fine sanding sponges after a stainless steel polishing brush that goes on the end of my drill. The prop looks new and everything slips right off.

propspeed is fantastic

this product is the best fouling solution I have ever come across, the most recent application was still perfectly fine after 2 years in the water with no interim cleaning required.
the only thing to watch is if you have any electrolic activity in your prop as this will blow it off the surface, sort that and you will have absolutely no problems.

Prop-speed works 100 %

I have been using prop speed for years. it works great.it take some prop time but the benifits are wearth it. you must tell the boat yards not to power wash it at all or they will blast it off . my boat is in ocean city ,md. no growth at all.

It is the only product that works

Have been using this product for two years and it keeps all growth off of the shaft and propellor.

Negative Reviews:

Good while it lasted

I used this product for several years with good results. It eliminated the need for a quick haul in August. However, in 2012 it didn't work well at all, and there was another boat in my yard that had the same result. this stuff is very expensive so it only gets one chance with me. I am going back to hard zinc paint. Too bad. I really liked this stuff. However, I couldn't recommend it now, and at one time I was telling everyone about it.

Would not buy again

I had the yard put the product on my 65 foot sportfish. I hauled the boat out after a year and the props had barnacles that had to be scraped off. It seemed the coating was flaking off. Another guy in the yard told me that he sees this often. It is very expensive.
