Diadora built the new Escape 2 shoes around its women's-specific last using lightweight breathable upper materials. It then mated this to an ultra-stiff full-nylon/composite outsole, and threw in a closure system that lets you dial in the perfect fit. It sounds fairly simple, but in doing so, Diadora created an affordable package that blends the most important qualities that we look for into a single pair of shoes.
The women's-specific last shape forms precisely to your foot, combining just the right amount of arch support with forefoot and midfoot hold. Additionally, this design lends itself to securing heel retention as well. This comfortable cradle on the foot is achieved using Diadora's Suprell-Tech and Morpho Cage design. Essentially, this is a leather/polyurethane and lightweight mesh 'space frame' construction that's been designed to support pedaling motions with its ultra-stable and breathable composition. At the heel cup, Diadora designed the Escape 2 to perfectly contain the rider's foot in its seat by armoring the delicate Achilles tendon with a two-part composition. For structural rigidity, the pre-molded thermoplastic polyurethane heel cup uses a firm composite around the back, with softer and more flexible plastics along the sides.
The closure system incorporates two separate straps that each performs specific retention functions. Across the forefoot, Diadora added its V-Fit hook-and-loop strap that allows you to easily control the volume over the forefoot. Moving up from that is the dual-ring 'Double Speedlace' strap. This is also a hook-and-loop strap, but you receive two options for customizable midfoot retention. If your feet are narrow and you have a low arch, use the second ring. Do you have wide feet with a high instep? Take the first ring. In either case, you'll be able to get a supportive and comfortable fit that matches your individual foot shape. The combination of these two straps provides you with the ultimate customizable retention and support.
Diadora chose to mate the Escape 2 upper to its Sport Mountain sole. This nylon and glass composite platform keeps stack height and weight to a minimum, while maintaining a high level of rigidity for a direct transmission of power to the pedals. The outsole features a dual-density polyurethane tread that's actually been shaped in mimic of crampons. Ultimately, this combination of shape and materials creates a tread that's durable, and just as importantly, effectively sheds mud. Hi-Vent insoles complete the Escape 2 Shoes, giving you maximum support, ventilation, and comfort in all weather conditions.
The Diadora Escape 2 Women's Shoes are available in odd and even sizes ranging from 37.0 to 43.0 and in the color White/cosmic violet.
