It’s no secret: Women ride bikes for the same reasons guys do. You ride for that freedom found in the forest; that escape down a smooth path on a sunny day; the peace ushered in by an evening commute. With that same passion for riding comes the desire for a suitable bike that can take you anywhere you want to go. No more bothering with trying to make men's bikes work, or wishing there was a line of bikes that offers the kind of features you want—the Diamondback Airen line is here.
Devine Designs—Diamondback's line of bikes that pays tribute to women riders. These aren’t just men’s models painted in pastel. Diamondback recognized the need for a dedicated women's line and started from the ground up, considering every aspect of the female cyclist. The Airen collection is built around what women want in a bike: a tailored fit, lightweight construction for an easy to handle yet stable ride, performance proven components, and a distinguished color scheme. With Devine Designs, you’ll find the same devotion to technology and elegant craftsmanship that’s engineered into all Diamondbacks—in designs specifically developed for you.
For 2014 Diamondback is taking the women's road line to the next level with the introduction of the Endurance Airen Carbon series. Utilizing Diamondback's own Enhanced Performance Geometry (EPG) frame design, the Airen retains all the handling, geometry and ride characteristics of the carbon Competition platforms, with a slightly higher head tube height to put less strain on a rider’s back and neck. This improves the fit for riders with marginally less pelvic rotation and core stability.
Complimentary to the EPG is the use of Advanced Tube to Tube (ATT) design with “Core Control”. ATT utilizes a monocoque of the head tube and down tube that is joined to a monocoque of the BB and chain stay. These two structures form the “core” of the frame. The remaining carbon tubes are applied utilizing Carbon Welding or Tube to Tube construction. Coupling these two unique methods of frame making creates an exceptionally smooth confidence inspiring and efficient ride. Some finishing touches on the frame include: internal cable routing, carbon drop outs, and a tapered headtube formed to play host to the custom DB Road Performance Carbon fork w/ alloy steerer.
The Airen 4 is equipped with a compelling component group featuring: Shimano 105 dual control shifters/brake levers and front derailleur, an Ultegra rear derailleur, a Tiagra 4600 10spd cassette, Tektro R450 dual pivot brakes, a FSA CN910 10spd chain, and the FSA GossamerPro Compact crankset 50,34t chainring setup. The low spoke count (16f/20r) on the Shimano RS-11 Clincher wheels offer a lightweight riding experience desired by all roadies. Accenting the Airen 4 is a crowning cockpit package: Prologo Kappa EVO Comp saddle, Easton EA50 Ergo handlebars DB Devine Road Series Stems and seatposts. The result is a bike that’ll have you excited to tack on the mileage.
