Nimble like a 26”, fast and dominant like a 29er, the 27.5” (650b) wheel is here to stay! The 27.5”wheel offers lower rolling resistance and better traction for a smoother ride much like you'd get from the 29”, but with the agility and maneuverability of the smaller 26” wheel. The 27.5 also enables less geometry and suspension travel limitations, and eliminates toe clearance concerns, while increasing stiffness and durability. With all new, custom SL-7 27.5” Double wall wheels, the Axis Pro just might be the perfect machine for you to make your entrance into the 27.5” world.
At the heart of the Axis 27.5 series is the Diamondback Axis 27” Butted 6061-T6 aluminum frame with formed top and down tubes, machined headtube, and forged drop outs with a replaceable hanger. Thru pure simplicity the Axis frame blends uncompromised strength with minimalist good-looks that’ll sure to catch the attention of your fellow trail junkies.
Diamondback is no stranger to assembling the best price-to-performance ratio, which is proven yet again in the Axis Sport. An SR Suntour XCR-LO 27.5 fork with 100mm travel and Speed Lock gives you total authority over the indecisive trail. The Speed Lock feature allows you to adjust and limit the rebound of the fork to ensure you get the most power and efficiency from each pedal stroke. Simply turn the Speed Lock accordingly, for rigidity on brutal climbs or fast flats.
The Axis Sport 8-speed drivetrain is highlighted by SRAM S600 cranks (22/32/42t), X4 Trigger shifters and rear derailleur, and PG-820 cassette (11-36t). This drivetrain assembly provides reliable gearing options, while keeping the price tag minimal, making this the ideal set-up for entry-level riders looking to discover life on the trail.
Equipped with Avid DB-1 Hydraulic Disc brakes and a 180mm rotor up front and 160mm rotor in the rear, the Axis Sport is suited to stop on dime when needed, giving you confidence to challenge yourself. Complimenting the stopping capabilities of the Avid- Elixir-1’s are the grippy Scwalbe Rapid Rob tires that are certain to give you superior balance and control on every surface. For the cockpit, Diamondback went with a customized DB spec’d cockpit, dialed in with a 3D forged 7° rise stem, zero-rise Flat Handlebar, and a 30.9 Micro Adjust seatpost with a DB Race Saddle on top; the perfect equation for pure enjoyment in the pavementless world.
Whether you’re new to the trails or looking to see what all the 27.5” hype is all about, the Axis Sport is a great guide, that’ll have you on the trails day after day!
Note: Components are subject to change without notice.
Smaller than a 29er and faster than bikes with standard 26 in. wheels, the Diamondback Axis Sport 27.5 mountain bike uses "just right" 27.5 in. wheels to flow effortlessly on singletrack.
