For years, the Diamondback Lux series has brought value-orientated trail bikes to a female audience. Previously seen in 26” and 29” models, the new for 2014 Diamondback Lux combines the best of both worlds to debut a 27.5” (650b) women specific trail bike. Over the past couple of years there’s been plenty of discussion about 27.5” (650b) wheels, but the verdict is in. Right in between 26” and 29” wheels, 27.5” wheels offer lower rolling resistance and better traction, similar to a 29” bike, however without the suspension travel limitations or toe-overlap issues. Combining the agility and durability of a 26” bike with the rolling power of 29”, 27.5” is truly the best of both worlds. To go along with the new 27.5” wheels, the Lux’s newly designed super-low top tube provides strength and a lower standover height, offering greater clearance to riders of all heights.
Devine Designs—Diamondback's line of bikes that pays tribute to women riders. These aren’t just men’s models painted in pastel. Diamondback recognized the need for a dedicated women's line and started from the ground up, considering every aspect of the female cyclist. The Airen collection is built around what women want in a bike: a tailored fit, lightweight construction for an easy to handle yet stable ride, performance proven components, and a distinguished color scheme. With Devine Designs, you’ll find the same devotion to technology and elegant craftsmanship that’s engineered into all Diamondbacks—in designs specifically developed for women.
The Lux Sport includes a SR Suntour XCR-LO 27.5 fork with 100mm of travel to provide an even smoother ride, still. Although the nature of 27.5” wheels allows you to roll over just about anything, the XCR-LO fork will eat up other vibrations to smooth out any terrain. Diamondback’s employed their new SL-7 27.5” Doublewall wheels for this build, paired with WTB Wolverine tires for some surefooted confidence on every surface. To get you up and over that next mound of dirt you’ve got a SRAM S600 crankset (22/32/42T) and a Shimano 8-speed drivetrain (12-28T) complete with Rapidfire shifters. After summiting your climb, the Shimano M395 hydraulic disc brakes will bring you to a nice, smooth and steady halt after bombing the other side. Rounding out this magnificent deal, Diamondback went with a mix of DB and DB Devine components to make up the cockpit, including the Devine Lazer Bar with a women-specific width.
Note: Components are subject to change without notice.
Smaller than a 29er and faster than bikes with standard 26 in. wheels, the Diamondback Lux Sport 27.5 women's mountain bike uses "just right" 27.5 in. wheels to flow effortlessly on singletrack.
