Cycling shoes have come a long way since the lace-up versions of a few decades ago. But, even though closure systems and synthetic materials have inundated the market, sometimes simple design trumps innovation. DMT (Diamant) has been designing cycling footwear since 1978. In fact, its engineering and development are so refined that it serves as a main reference for Nike, a giant in the sport's footwear field. Its Libra Speedplay Road Shoe is a balance of advanced technology with clean elegance
First, it should be noted that this version of the Libra Road Shoe is Speedplay pedal system specific. To this end, the sole had been tailored specifically for Speedplay cleats. In fact the sole is flat to ensure direct compatibility with the four-hole bolt pattern of Speedplay cleats. You won't need to use an adapter. This profile was not only shown in DMT's laboratories to save 33 seconds per hour, it is also lighter. The CG Fybertek-carbon and fiberglass sole is ultra-stiff to maximize power transfer to the pedals in every stroke.
Although the cleat-specific sole of the Libra is impressive, it is the construction and fit of the uppers that make DMT cycling shoes lauded for their comfort. DMT uses over 200 athletes across the globe to test and give feedback about its shoes. The uppers were constructed of micro fiber and nylon mesh. The micro fiber is ultra-thin which allows it to conform to your foot. Additionally, mesh inserts help transfer moisture from your feet to the exterior of the shoe which helps to keep your feet dry. Aiding airflow is a perforated insole so that moisture is able to evaporate from both the top and bottom of your shoe. The Libra is secured using three hook and loop straps which thread through stainless rings to hold your foot tightly in the shoe. The Libra Road Shoes are finished with a replaceable heel stud.
The DMT Libra Speedplay Road Shoes are available in whole sizes 38.0, 39.0, whole and half sizes 41.0 to 45.5, and whole sizes 46.0 and 47.0. They come in two colors: White and Black.
