I have skinny legs (I didn't think they were super skinny, but apparently they are-- my calf measures 14 inches round flexed, and 12/5 inches round not flexed) and was looking desperately for boots that didn't look like I was wearing my grandfather's fishing waders. These do it. The leather around the heel doesn't look super loose and the top looks fitted over skinny jeans. There is a clear emphasis of the cut on the calf-- ala traditional riding boots-- the calf of the boot sticks out a bit-- the boot doesn't run straight up and down, but it's a cute look so I'm fine with it. My right foot, a perfect 7.5 fits perfectly; my left foot, which tends into wide sizes, is slightly snug, but the leather has a bit of give to it, so I'll just work on stretching out the toes a bit. There's not a ton of arch support, but that isn't what I'm looking for anyway.
After searching for over a year for the perfect tall boot, I found it! I love the cut and shape. I'm 125lbs and did not find that the boot was tight to zip up like some reviews stated. I'm only 5'4" and did notice that the top of the back of the boot did hit the back of my knee . Donald J Pliner makes such good shoes and the price was fantastic. Love that these boots are tapered to the leg.
A nicely made boot, the calves on this are "pre-formed" for large calves. Though the info stated circumference 14", they are 16". I've found this to be a problem in many boots that show up when I search for "narrow calves" but they are actually for wide.
