2.5/5 Watt and 1/2 Watt Models

The original 1/2 watt model is inadequate to light the galley or dining area, the 2.5/5 watt version is completely adequate. Read the label on the package to be sure you don't get an older version. I have one 1/2 watt model in a bunk area for a reading light, and have two of the larger version in the main cabin. Super low battery draw so you never have to complain about them being left on :-)

Nice Light!

I needed a new cabin light for my West Wight Potter 15 and decided to upgrade to an LED. This light uses less power and has a red light or white light. I like having the red light because it won't ruin my night vision while sailing. The white light is bright and lights up the whole cabin. I'm looking forward to using it on some trips in 2012!

So good I plan to buy 2 more

We sail offshore so we wanted a light that was economical on power, yet without compromising on light. I have tested a number of LED lights, all of which blind you to look at whilst not lighting the cabin. This LED lights as well as any other technology, but with less power. I highly recommend.

This is a good light!

Replaced old 12V incandescent in the head on my trawler. equal or better overall lighting with much less heat. Attractive design with extra feature of two position switch.
Pricey! I'll replace all my old 12 volt lights when the prices get better.

An excellent product

I installed two lights, port and starboard, in the side bulkheads of the main cabin. The cabin is 74"H X 72"W X 84"L and these two lights provide sufficient lighting. This is true for the white and red lights settings.

2nd one I have purchased

I was so impressed at the output and low voltage draw I came back to get a second one. it's the best LED light I have seen on a Yacht

Excellent lighting with night light

Gradually replacing all our lights with leds - like the warmth of the white for these. They directly fit our fixings, which makes the replacement easy.

Don't Buy These

I bought 8 of these matched for my salon. They quickly began to fail. I talked personally with the company who would not tell me about how they would honor the warrantee. They seemed to want to replace some of them with a different style. Of course they wouldn't match the ones still in the salon. I am located close to their business and wanted to drop the lights off. They were adamant not to come by their business. Makes me wonder what they were trying to hide. Within 2 years all the lights had quit functioning properly (our boat is used only a few times during the season so they hadn't had excessive use). I'm now out about $700 and have to replace the lights.

not marine quality

I bought 8 of these 2 years back.I returned 2 after the switches broke after a few months.Since then 3 have developed intermittent problems with the switch and one side on a 2 way switch has failed entirely.

My big complaint is that all the units are tarnished and the finish is deteriorating, definitely an inferior and cheap product not of marine quality.

After two years, lights became worthless

The first year was great. Good light, low power usage. I bought 6! After two years they are all so dim as to essentially be worthless. I now have to wear headlamps when down below. I wasted a WHOLE lot of money.
