This is my third pair of Doc Martens boots. It is not a coincidence that all three of them (Clemency & Casey) have a higher heel and slimmer cut compared to the classic 1460 Docs. On my feet, the 1460s are way too wide, a bit too long, and my heel slips to the point that they're unwearable. The Cadence Chelsea boot actually hugs my feet comfortably, and has good arch support. The leather feels heavy but soft, and the process of breaking them in has been easy. My only complaint about these boots is that the top edge of the boot is very stiff, especially in the front, and rubs uncomfortably unless I am wearing heavy socks. Since this is related to the stiffness of the leather, I am guessing that this is something that will improve as I continue to wear and break in the boots. These boots feel like they will last forever, and are a good value for the price. They would make a great pair of starter Docs if you are not sure about dealing with the clunkier fit and laces of the classic 1460's. They would also be an excellent choice if you love the more classic style - but want something a little different. I walk a lot, and these comfortable, supportive boots will be my go-to shoes this winter.
I ordered these due to the slight heel and rugged, slim look hoping to wear them for walking in the city. All was well and happily wore them for one day. I wear thin socks. They have stretched so much that my foot slips not only in the heal but side to side. Obviously I can switch to a thick sock and solve the problem but then I would stretch out all my other shoes and boots. My recommendation is that you size down a half a size if possible. Or else wear them in the house for a day or so before deciding if you will keep them!
Great boot, super comfy cushiony sole, it has a bit of a heel which is a plus for me being only 5'5". I bought a size 9 and I am wondering if an 8 and 1/2 would have been better. But right now it's a cold winter in Connecticut so I wear very thick socks and my feet stay warm in snow and rain. Great sole traction, too. These boots look great with skinny pants.
I love these boots! They are so so cute. I have worn Dr. Maartens my entire life and their quality and comfort have never wavered. I did notice that the ankle opening is a little tight. I definitely plan to break these in with thick socks or tights. Overall I am so happy!
Love these boots, very comfortable, perfect height for a little heal, but not too much, love the distressed look which gets better the more you wear them.
