Dr. Martens Phina Reviews:

Reviews:

I just got these & wore them today for the first time. I totally adore them. I wear a women's size 10 in all my shoes. I purchased the UK8/US10 & it fit perfectly. If I had gone down a size (as others suggest) I would not even be able to get this on. It's snug with socks (and they are not even thick socks.) My calf is about 18.5" so I was worried these may not work, but was hopeful as I read elsewhere that they'd fit up to about a 19" calf. They absolutely DO FIT! The leather is so soft & pliable, that they have just enough stretch to fit comfortably. I am also on the 2nd to last hole on the buckle, so I could loosen them up a bit more if I needed to. Perhaps over jeans they may need a bit more space, but I was able to fit my entire hand down between the shaft & my leg, so I know this leather has a lot of give to it. And since it's such lovely leather, i think they will loosen up a bit more with regular wear. One thought I had, if they didn't quite fit, was looking into leather buckle/strap extenders (they sell these for men's kilts, for example), to give just a tad bit more room (like 1/2" maybe.) Not sure how that would look, but i would have considered it since I LOVE the way these books look!! When i was first putting these on, I unzipped it & undid all the buckles & then tried to fasten them around my calf. This did not work so well & I thought for sure the boots would not even buckle around my calf - it just seemed like the straps were not long enough. The second boot i left buckled & just used the zipper - they zipped right up fine. So, if you are having some issues getting the buckles to fasten, I'd suggest fastening them in the last hole or 2nd to last hole before you even put them on. The leather stretches enough to let you zip them right up. They do pucker a bit around the ankle, sort of like the leather is slouching down. But i think that's kind of how they are supposed to be. These aren't really for that smooth, sleek look. They just have a more rugged, kick-some-teeth-in look :) All in all, for the price I am pleased. They are way more comfortable & roomy than most other boots of similar cost. And they don't look or feel like cheap crappy leather, like most of the other $200 boots I've tried do. They rub a bit on the heel, and feel a little tight across the top of the foot, but this will all break-in in time & they will probably be one of my favorite pairs of boots.

This looks great with anything, really. It has a nice stylish flair that separates if from the other Doc Martens out there and that's why I got them. However, the comfort is something else: the part where the leather tongue starts is very painful that it's difficult to walk in them and I can't stop thinking about how it's squeezing my feet. I'm hoping it will loosen up the more I use it because it is definitely true to size and I love them already! I'm thinking of maybe purchasing one of those wooden shoe stretchers that I saw at Clarks stores to hasten the break-in process but other than that part, I recommend these beautiful pair! Good luck & happy shoe shopping!

These boots feel like bedroom slippers from the first time you put them on. They do not have much foot support, but are quite comfortable. I like the strap and buckle Edward Scissorhands look and the straps are functional to allow you to adjust the boots to your exact calf size. I just put additional holes in the straps to fit my slim legs. These are now my favorite boots. The leather is glove soft. One caution. These are not snow boots. The way the foot is constructed they tend to gap a little where the tongue is and you feel the cold air and snow can get in.

Love these boots. I have large calves (17.5 inches) and had never owned a pair of knee high boots before because I could never find any that fit. I read the reviews about these boots having such a "huge calf" that they had to punch extra holes in the straps and figured they might actually fit me normally... and, lo and behold, they do! It\'s a close fit but they are extremely comfortable. I\'m VERY pleased with this purchase.

They are comfy and stylish. Every time I wear them, I'm given the side eye by other women who then tell me how much they like my boots. I'm very happy with them. This is my second pair of Dr. Martens. I purchased my first pair in my early twenties but my mom threw them away! I am fifty now and so this is kind of cathartic and a proper homage to my love for British punk.
