I had tried literally every shoe store in town and every other website looking for a high quality boat shoe in a Narrow. Might as well have been looking for the Holy Grail. Zappos came highly recommended, so I tried it for the first time. The "Shoefinder" feature early on was a huge plus. I knew the name Dunham from years ago, and the fact that New Balance owns it was a real plus. The Champlain is fantastic. (I would like for the tongue to be about 1/2" longer; I tend to put the shoes on like a slipper rather than untying them.) The shoes could have been made for me! Perfect fit, unbelievably comfortable. A little more expensive than the Rockports that I was looking for originally, but well worth it. The waxhide leather is probably the best that I have seen, and the soles are the absolute standard for what a boat shoe should be. It is going to last for years. I know exactly where I will look the next time I need a casual shoe! I recommend Zappos and the Dunham Champlain to everyone looking for a top quality, comfortable, well fitting boat shoe!

Dunham Boat Shoe - The Dunham boat shoe is the overall best shoe of this type that I have owned in decades. I wear an 11.5 - 5E shoe. This product seems just a smidge narrow although the quality of the leather is such that I'm sure it will conform to my foot in short order. It exudes the look of supreme materials and workmanship. For example, my handtools are Klein, my yard tools are Skil, and these shoes are every bit the same caliber as these products. They are very comfortable and require just a little break-in wear. I recommend this product. I will look for other Dunham shoes next shopping visit to Zappos.

Excellent shoe!!! I bought a pair of these in the Summer of 2007, and they quickly became my nearly-everyday, summer work-shoe. I have diabetes, so I need to be careful to buy shoes that fit as described, and are comfortable. The fact that New Balance owns Dunham and has obviously passed on their shoe-making technology to the Dunham line; insures the shoes are very comfortable. These fit the bill 110%. I am thinking of buying a second pair just to store for future use! Another great Dunham shoe!

Comfortable, long-lasting, attractive - The Dunham Champlain is the best narrow boat shoe I have worn over the last 20 years. I live in Florida and wear boat shoes without socks every day. I have a high arch and use an orthotic, so the removable footpad is handy. The leather takes a nice burnished shine and the sole material shows no sign of wear after 12 months. I bought a backup pair 2 months ago months and can't tell the two apart.

Finally - My husband has a long narrow foot and seldom buys anything other than a tennis shoe. He wears a 15 in Nike, and a 14 in dress and casual shoes. After a little experimenting (thanks to the free shipping and return policy of Zappos), we were able to get him a 13 narrow and he loves them. The shoes look great and fit.

PERFECT! Exactly what I was looking for. These shoes were exactly what I was looking for! The size was perfect - the shoes are nicer than they look in the picture. I could not be happier. And, I had them on my doorstep in less than 24 hours later! WOW!

Great shoe. Solid, comfortable fit, at 6E, it has the width I need and accommodates my high instep. I hope the leather heel linings will last longer than the cloth ones in other shoes, which for me wear out long before the soles and uppers.

Nice Shoes - Shoes are of high quality and fit is good. The leather is stiff but that is due to the thickness and it takes a few wearings to break the shoes in. I believe they will be long wearing and comfortable.

A Very Good Shoe - This shoe looks great. I wish it were slightly wider (I ordered a 6E). It's not absolutely comfortable, but it's better than anything I have found in a store and better than many special orders on line.

Loved this shoe - My husband has a hard time finding comfortable shoes as his foot is so wide. He loves this shoe and I am going to order another just like it as a gift for Christmas.

Dunham Champlain Boat Shoe - I bought this shoe, despite it being double the cost of some of the other boat shoes I was looking at, because it was the only one of my choices in my size 15EEEE. I really had wanted the Dunham Champlain 4500 - a much, much snappier looking shoe but that is being discontinued. Nothing against the Zappos people, mind you; they were incredible and after actually searching other web sites for me to find what I really wanted; they got the shoe to me immediately. But even though this was my size all right, my larger foot has felt extremely pinched, even after having it professionally stretched, and this problem was solved only after installing a thinner footpad 1 full size smaller (I called Dunham about a replacement footpad and they had none in my size). The other complaints are the stodgy design, the ugly color mismatch between the sole and the upper, and how quickly and majorly they develop major scuff marks, making them look terrible in a very short while and impossible to return. I had noticed a very similar model to this shoe - the MCN611 SB - at about half the price of my shoes, but that was not in my size either. The Dunham people explained that the Champlain Boat shoe had more cushioning and was much lighter due to a new type of airline-inspection-friendly fiberglass construction and that is true: they are incredibly light. The cushioning, however, appears to be a function of the footpad which, as explained above, had to be removed. Bottom line, this was the only Boat Shoe anywhere in the country or on the Internet in my size.

Wide Boat Shoe - I need a wide shoe, and like the look and utility of boat shoes (easy on-easy off). Since make/model of shoes vary, I ordered 11.5/4E and 11.5/6E. The 4E was tight, the 6E fit. Length was about right on both. I have a wide front food, high arch, i.e. high front foot, and narrow ankle. Not a real fan of the type of leather used, it was too hard/shiny as I prefer the rough leather look. However, these do come in 6E, which is unusual for a boat shoe. I'm keeping it for the comfort, maybe I will get used to the look.

Nice shoe, but tongue too short - I've worn boat shoes for 40 years. This one looks nice and felt great right out of the box, but of all things I never expected - it has a short stumpy tongue unlike any other boat shoe I've ever had. So you cannot just slip this shoe on. The tongue gets pushed in and it's too short to even grab and straighten out. You literally have to untie and tie the laces every time.
