Dynafit PDG Ski -

Dynafit PDG Ski:   Euros call it “ski-running”, in America we call it getting up the hill fast – or ski mountaineering. The PDG is your 161 cm “backcountry sword” – used at the right time on in right conditions there’s nothing better.  The PDG ski at only xxx gr. is an affordable rando race ski, spring ski, “skin up the ski area before work, couloir slayer – and if there’s a long approach with skis on the pack there’s no better ski. Austrian-made, wood core 99/65/80 (161 cm. only). Weight 800 g

  • Cap construction ensures ultra-lightweight performance and stands up to abuse during fast-paced races

Weather and Wind:

  • Generous sidecut provides easy turning on variable terrain and snow conditions
  • Paulownia (ultra-light wood) and IC Racecore (carbon) core keeps the weight to a minimum and provides a snappy structure in variable snow
  • 99mm contoured Suspension Tip reduces shock without adding too much weight and also floats on new snow and over crud

  • Pintail uses a pointed tail to enable super-quick attachment to race backpacks and to inhibit hooking during turns
  • Dual Radius technology features a separate turn radius for the tip and tail of the ski, which means you can execute and exit turns with less effort
  • Traditional camber underfoot ensures a solid edge hold in ice and crud-choked racecourses
  • KLICK tip attachment and tail pair with the pre-cut Dynafit Race Ready Speedskin for easy and reliable gliding
  • Fiberglass and carbon laminates add torsional rigidity and stability for the steeper downhill sections and marquee European descents
Backcountry.com (Fall 2013)

Racing through the mountains with 10,000 feet of vertical of climbing only entices a narrow swath of very athletic backcountry skiers. If you're one of these ski-runners with course records in your sights, the ultralight Dynafit PDG Ski provides the speed touring performance necessary to pick up the pace on the skin track and confidently pass other racers on the downhill sections. Named for and designed in collaboration with the Patrouille des Glaciers, a Swiss outfit that hosts the world's largest ski mountaineering race, this supremely crafted ski zooms uphill and enables lightning-quick transitions. Thanks to its solid core and construction, Dual Radius sidecut, and Suspension Tip, you can make easy arcs in all types of snow instead looking like the rest of the squirrely racers on the mountain.

The Dynafit PDG is for ambitious ski runners, ski mountaineers and speed tourers. The ski core is a carbon and light-wood construction similar to that of its big brother DY.N.A. The ski is skillfully crafted in Europe with the best available materials and finished with the maximum care and attention to detail.

Dynafit PDG Ski Reviews:

Lightweight rando race ski for athletes on a budget. These toothpicks cut through the crud and will get you down the steep gnarly descent before you hit the skintrack for the next climb. The skin attachment notch is just deep enough for race skins (including the homemade variety). The top sheet is fragile. I have a lot of scratches from sliding the sharp edges over the tip and tail. Not much else to report - its light and fast and made by Dynafit. Get it and race fast.

Price point race ski that is suppose to be super durable and only a 100 g more than the full on version at 1/2 the price. They do ski exceptionally well! Even with a race boot... 4# 2oz with a low tech race binder per pair. Sweet set up!
