Backcountry must have

Rating:****
In my opinion, advanced skiers who spend the majority of their time in the backcountry will benefit the most form these bindings. After purchasing these bindings, I spend a whole day skiing in bounds in order to get used to the entry process. After sking an entire season in Chamonix, Austria, Switzerland and Colorado, I noticed that these bindings are more than capable of controlling alpine skis in most skiable terrain. I noticed a bit of instability in areas where the grade was above 45 degrees but my boots always stayed in place and with a little extra hop in my turns, I was capable of making confident turns in all conditions. In the occasion where I did take a spill, replacing the ski esecially in steep terrain (regardless of the amount of snow) proved challenging but I attribute this to my inexpierence with the bindings. Getting the boots lined up with the teeth on the front of the binding proved to be the biggest issue. Be sure to always give your skis a few get stomps to ensure the boot is secured to the ski. Adjusting the height of the rear portion of the binding was tricky but after some practice with the poles, I have no problem using the variable height settings that the binding provides. Another bonus for the bindings is the low profile design which is great if you travel with a number of skis in the same box. I have not attempted to mount these bindings on my powder skis due to the fact I think they are better suited for skis that are on the narrow side. In eight years of sking in the backcountry, these are by far my favorite bindings yet.

light on the up & power on the down

Rating:****
These are an amazing binding - light for the up hill but holds really well on the down... Best of both worlds.
