The E.13 By The Hive XCX Guide E Type has been in use by E.13 employess since 2004 and has since been used at the top of the sport. Most notably, it was used in the 2009 Cross Country World Championships winning a Silver Medal in the men’s elite race.
Closer examination reveals why the XCX Guide has been so successful. The construction is very minimal and is designed for XC singlespeed and trail bikes running single ring set-ups. With the range of 10 speed gearing available, more and more XC racers are finding that they like the 1x10 set-up on their XC bikes. In addition to being light, the XCX Guide is more importantly stiff enough. Any chainline alignment can be adjusted via adjustment shims that are used between the clamp and your bike's seat tube. Installation is a snap as the chain does not have to be broken to install. Chainring swapping is also made easy since the slider doesn’t have to be removed.
On the trail, once adjusted the XCX Guide is feather light and offers very little drag on the chain and the design helps minimize mud build up when conditions get bad. The XCX Guide should not be used by riders on longer travel bikes looking to save weight, but if you are racing a 1x10 XC race or trail set-up, the XCX Guide is ideal!
