Could be GREAT if not for some flaws
Sandals that fit me are REALLY HARD to find. It's not that I have weird feet; just hard to fit. So I will go to great lengths to get a promising sandal to work. At first, I was really disappointed, as there are these little hard nubs all over the bed, at various places (byproduct of manufacturing?) that felt like there were stones in the shoe. I could not scratch them off without ripping the footbed material. But then I discovered that I could clip them off cleanly with a nail clipper without damaging the material! That made all the difference. Now, they are quite comfortable, which is miraculous for me. The only thing is that they have a ridge where your feet end and your toes start, and, on one foot, the ridge hits at the wrong place (WHY do manufacturers put these things into their shoes??). It's OK; I can manage. But it's not great. I'm hoping it will flatten down over time, as they are still pretty new, but i'm not that hopeful, as I think the shoe bed material is meant to stay put. But I still give the shoes 4 stars, as they are so vastly superior in comfort to most other sandals, even with a weird ridge sticking up on one foot. Below, I'm asked if I would recommend the shoes. It's hard to say. So I'll give my own bottom line: If you are willing to do some work to get these to work for you (such as clipping off nubs), and if the toes/foot ridge doesn't conflict with your foot, then these are QUITE comfortable compared to most sandles. If you have a generally easy time with shoes, and thus have higher standards, then you might want to skip these, as they are someone labor-intensive. For me, it was all totally worth it, but it might not be for you.
Comfy Earth Fit, good for wider feet!
Having owned several pairs of Earth shoes already, I took to these shoes like a duck to water. My only "con" which couldn't be described accurately above is that left side shoe, the right side strap that wraps across at the top of the foot was a bit irritating to that top bone in my foot (the one that the big toe is connected to.). So wearing it around barefoot is a bit irritating. Plus, in the hot sticky weather, the soles are not covered - they are a textured plastic or rubber type surface and they tend to be irritating. The end-run for both problems is for me to wear thicker socks (cotton or that wick-away type.).
I usually wear a wide width in womens, and so for my leather Earth shoes, with no wide width available (for womens shoes), I've usually had to up-size to the next half-size larger. I probably could have gotten by with ordering my usual 9.5 instead of a 10 as I did with these shoes. But, these seem to work for me even with the slightly longer length. But maybe that's why that piece hits me funny on my left toe bone (since my left foot is smaller than right foot.).
VERY COMFORTABLE
These sandals are wonderful for me. I have several very painful conditions in my feet and have a great deal of trouble finding shoes or sandals I can actually wear AND walk in. I desperately needed something to shift weight/wear from the ball of the foot toward arch and heel. THIS is the right choice!
I had known about Earth shoes/sandals for many years, but had trouble finding places to buy them. And Sierra Trading Post was just what I needed. I did have to order UP a half size, as recommended, although I was skeptical. I can often wear a 1/2 size smaller in sandals, but had not tried the Earth brand for a long time. Glad I could trust the advice here.
This was the right time and choice for me.
Half sizes do need to go up a size
I liked these sandals but couldn't keep them because of sizing issues. I wear a 6.5 in a dress shoe but always buy a 6 in a sandal. A 6 in this sandal didn't work because it has a molded foot pad that includes a bump right under the toes. Because my foot goes all the way to the end of the sandal when I buy a 6 (which I prefer) that didn't work for me because the bump hit on the ball of my foot and was very uncomfortable. I was unable to try a 7 because that was out of stock. But buyers should be aware that a molded foot pad like this means the sandal has to fit well in order to be comfortable.
Earth Exer-Strap Sandals
I love these shoes! I've had difficulties finding comfortable sandals with enough support the last few years, but these are excellent. The straps are placed to give maximum foot support, the footbed has both arch and side-foot support because of its construction. One possible problem is that the top strap (nearest the ankle) is barely long enough to reach the velcro to close it, while the strap to adjust the toe-area width is so long it almost reaches the ground. I've been able to wear them all day very comfortably right from the first. It's so hot here in the summer, open shoes are a must and these are exactly what I was looking for.
Great Shoe
These shoes were great right from the box. I normally wear a 5 1/2, so I sized up, as recommended, to a 6 which fit perfectly. I even ordered a second pair, and found the adjustable straps do their job--there were no 'nubs' on the footbed as some described--the only negative I find is that the shoes don't breathe well and are a bit clunky looking, but my feet and legs feel good when I wear them!
Earth Shoes are GREAT!
Earth Shoes are about the only brand I buy these days. My feet always feel great in them at the end of the day because my weight is not pushing on the ball of the feet.
Just wish Earth Shoes were made with slip-resistant soles for factory use, but I just found a slip-resistant and oil-resistant product from (another company) that I can put over them.
Now my feet feel great ALL THE TIME!
Perfect
Having experience with the Earth Exer line, I knew to order one size up. I normally wear a 9-91/2, and the 10 fits perfectly, with no 'wiggle' room. I like
the footbed form - although the sizing must be right - I can see how a slight size differential would make a big difference in comfort. I can wear these all day - more comfortable than being barefoot! The sandal is well made.
Perfect for long walks!
I've had leg surgery and my surgeon suggested wearing "negative heels" for best body alignment and I have many pairs of Earth shoes now and love them all. These are great for lots of walking. I have worn these with skorts, casual dresses and capris, works well with all. No feet/leg fatigue because of the comfortable, adjustable straps. Great for walking on uneven pavements, stairs etc.
A very unique shoe
I found this shoe in the mall and fell in love, but not with the price. So glad to have found it here. I bought them for a fall vacation where I will be walking a lot. I wanted to find something with velcro, nice casual, but functional, and a lined upper was a must. Bingo! The comfortable foot bed is an added bonus.
