Warmer and more functional than expected
The product description plays down the warmth and functionality of this jacket. It's way more than a "cute fleece." I had planned to use it as a mid-or lightweight fleece for working outside or walking the dog, but even with temps in the teens, combined with a toasty scarf, hat and gloves, the jacket kept me sufficiently warm. It blocks the wind really well, perhaps due to its one possible drawback, a stiff material (I'd hoped to be able to tie this jacket around my waist when I got warm on trail runs, but cannot). The hood is awesome for when the wind changes direction or picks up and you are not wearing a hat (I live by the ocean and the hood has saved my ears several times). The sleeves and waist cuffs are snug but lay well/flat. The fit is a bit boxy and asexual (not feminine) but that allows for layering (which, again, I haven't done much of yet, even with temps in the teens), although the inside fleece is kind of rough and doesn't slide over other layers well. A great addition to my outdoor winter wardrobe.
I walked into EMS looking for a Patagonia "Better Sweater" jacket, which they don't carry. However, I walked out with this, and I'm probably much better off for it! This "light jacket" is now my winter coat. The "stiffness" in the fabric, which perhaps might turn some people off, is actually magical wind-proofing. I bike everywhere, and on the nastiest, blustery Boston days-- this is still all I need. The hood is fitted, so it subs nicely for a hat. I got an XS, as I'm pretty petite (5'4", mostly-muscle 120 pounds), and I think the color, close-fit, and length works nicely for the 'lumberjack chic' thing I try to pull off. :) I thought I would run in this, but even in the dead of winter, it's WAY too warm for that (and the stiffness might get obnoxious, even if it wasn't). I don't know how this thing insulates so well as thin as it it, I think it forsakes some laws of physics, but I will take it!
Flattering fit and warm
It's a great coat when you want something a little dressier than your typical sportier fleece. Nice to have a hood, and windproof fabric is always a good thing. Perfect for warmer winter days when temps are in the 30's or 40's. I like the length..it just covers your butt. The biggest complaint is that there's no space under the arms, which means you can't wear anything thicker under it than a shirt.....no layering. But it's very comfortable. It's designed to be a closer fit so I guess it isn't really intended to be worn over layers of other clothes.
Perfect transitional jacket
I use my Emmy everyday for errands, going to the gym, etc. I also wear it to casual meetings and appts. The fit is very true to size...it's shapely yet has room for a layer or two. It's really well made with a heavy two-way zipper. Haven't had it long enough to know how well it wears over time but am very pleased with it.
I love this jacket! It fits really nicely, extends over my hips to keep me warm, and it's insanely warm for how lightweight it is. The princess cut is flattering and the double zipper lets me unzip it over my hips when i ride my bike or wear a bunch of layers. Great jacket!
love the nice "cut" for a female figure.
this was a gift from my husband. my name is emmy. i was delighted to find that the "cut" was perfect. it is too warm to wear it now that spring is here. i look forward to wearing it next fall and winter.
Extremely Warm with Great Look and Cut
I wanted ONE jacket that was incredibly warm, I would not have to layer, and I could use it on hikes or as a jacket for going out wth friends. This is it. It looks great, beautiful sombre color, and is incredibly warm!
Warm and Classy
This coat is warm and has deep pockets. The fleece type inside makes this coat deceptively warm for it's thickness. The XL did well for my unusually broad (for a woman) shoulders.
Love this jacket
I love this jacket, I bought it for myself and am very happy with the purchase!
really stylish and unique, hood is a great fit, great length, flattering!!!
