excellent jacket for climbing

Just took this jacket on a climbing trip to Canadian Rockies. It worked great. Notes/use:

- Jacket was breathable on the approach while also protecting from the wind (temps in ~15-20F range), with only a mid-weight layer underneath.

- The first three pitches of Professor Falls were hemorrhaging water, yet the jacket was extremely protective and never leaked. I had to use the hood, which was excellent: did not impede visibility, covered the helmet nicely, and was impressibly adjustable.

- I got some water inside the sleeve because I was using gloves without a gauntlet. Because of the nature of the material, this water remained inside and made my under-layers wet. Meaning, if you sweat, if water leaks in through openings, etc - you'll probably be uncomfortable. This is the nature of highly water-resistant materials, and is not due to the jacket leaking. This said, an elastic around the cuff would have been nice. At least partially, to keep the cuff more cinched, when needed.

- I found that the jacket works equally well on more aerobic routes, on snow climbing or long moderates. It breathes well, while maintaining good protection from wind.

- I loved that the jacket never got out from underneath the harness. It is very well designed, and consistent reaching overhead did not cause it to move up or excessively bunch up.

- The orange color looks awesome in photos.

- The sizing is pretty true. I am 5'4", 125 lbs, and I wear this jacket in S. I can fit a thin insulating layer underneath, or comfortably wear a belay jacket over it without bulk or bunching.

Excellent Jacket - Quality Buy

The jacket fits well (has long sleeves) and worked brilliantly in a huge downpour! Seems to stop wind as well. Particularly like that the hood has a bit of a visor which helped keep the rain out of my face. There are also ventilation zippers under the arms for warmer weather.

Negative Reviews:

water does not bead up on it.

Just wore it out in rain storm and jacket immediately got soaked- water does NOT bead up or roll off it, but instead soaks right in. Called store up to see about returning it. Too bad b/c nice weight shell, great wind protection and nice long sleeve length.
