Wanted to love these

I received these pants as a gift and was very excited to try them out. I own the matching jacket made from the same fabric. This material is relatively light weight and still fairly rugged. It sheds water without absorbing any water weight and you can just shake it dry. Both the jacket and pants vent well. My only complaint about these pants is the way the waist and side zipper are laid out. The waist has a very small 1" Velcro square tab over the zipper on both hips. If unzipped from the top to ventilate your thighs while you are active this little tab of Velcro wont do the job of keeping the waist together so your pants end up falling down. The only way around this is to unzip from the bottom which means you have to unzip the entire leg to vent your thighs. This is not an ideal situation especially if you are in deep snow or just need a little ventilation. I was really excited about these pants but I'm not sure I'm willing to deal with this design.

needs improvements

The side leg zippers need improvement. The material flap behind the zipper is to loose so it catches in the zipper as the zipper travels up or down. Maybe stitching the flap at third points instead of just at end and along where the zipper is stitched in.
Thank you.

Doesn't keep out snow

Nice pants and will do well in the rain and light snow, but the elastic around the boots are VERY loose and there's no way to connect to gaiter grommets on waterproof boots.

Functionally this means that when walking in deep snow, it will get into your boots. Honestly, I don't understand why the elastic is so loose and/or it wasn't made with an adjustable elastic and/or with hooks to use the integral gaiter as a gaiter!

I'd recommend this for rain or shallow snow, but not for deep snow or winter activities.
