Great little jacket

Since I already own a big waterproof 750 goose down jacket I was looking for something a bit more lightweight and sporty. With thermals and an additional top fleece or wool layer the jack is comfortable to about the mid 20 degree mark. The jacket has two fleece lined side pockets, large outside breast and inside breast pockets. Recently during a rain/sleet storm when layering under a Gore-Tex rain jacket, opening the front and sit arm pit vents kept me warm but not overheated. This light, compressible jacket is easy to pack and has become one of our favorite "go to" jackets this rough winter. And I have no doubt it will come in handy for other activities such as cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Prometheus Review

I've only worn this walking in high 20s low 30s. Under a shell it works as expected. I love how it cinches at the waist and zips up snug to my chin. I wish the cuffs had more give, to more easily pull over my gloves. The 133 g insulation was the thickest I could find in comparable style jackets. I can't wait to see how it feels standing in the cold, watching a football game, walking behind a snow thrower and hiking/snowshoeing in the cold. I'm confident It will perform.

Great Jacket

I love primaLoft and my EMS jackets. The underarm sippers make it great for venting when active without having to take off the jacket. The cut of the new jacket is a bit tight however...EMS seems to have gone for "style" rather then function. My older one is better for the trail...the new one for town. Also, bring back the hood!

Light and very warm

I was looking for a warm and light jacket that was not as bulky as down
This jacket fits the bill
I find it as warm as my older North Face Nuptse 700 fill down,
I live in New England and this jacket is perfect
I can always throw a shell if needed

Great Jacket for the price.

It's a great jacket for the price. I use it to keep warm on cold days. Used it in Yellowstone on 0 degree day and it worked great. Armpit vents are nice when a physical activity occurs, like running from bears.

serves the purpose

I bought for my husband who is very picky about sleeve and trunk length, I purchased him a very large size and that was a good decision.

Perfect mid weight jacket

It is the jacket I seem to pull out of the closet for all around use when the temperature is in the 50 to 20 degree range.

Negative Reviews:

I purchased this jacket for myself a few months ago to deal with the on and off cool weather in DC as well as for regular trips to Boston. The jacket fits well, is light, and is easily packable due to its size.

After about two or three days of wearing the jacket I noticed that Primaloft fibers were leaking out of the seams in the jackets arms. I've owned down jackets in the past and am used to stuffing coming out here and there but this was different. I brought the jacket back to the store where I was told that it was normal to see this type of leakage in areas like the sleeves. After the issue persisted in the sleeves and started to happen on every seem on the jacket I brough it back to the store hoping that maybe I had just got a bad run of the jacket. They were more than happy to give me a new one and about a week into wearing it the same thing happened. The jacket is still warm and very comfortable, however at the rate at which the seams are pissing Primaloft I'm not sure how many seasons it will last. Additionally, the fabric is not as tough as other insulated jackets I'm owned in the past and rips rather easily.

EMS needs to consider a double stitched seem in the future to avoid such heavy leakage. I have two friends with Primaloft jackets from other companies and they have not experienced any of the same issues. Bottom line, this is a nice jacket for the price but don't expect it to last too long.

Great insulation, poor shell

Wore the jacket shoveling snow on Long Island in single digits. The next two days, skied/rode and taught skiing in VT in 10 degrees weather, and the next day, warm sunny high 30's weather. It was great in all conditions. The pit zips were perfect for the warm sunny high 30's.
Unfortunately the nylon shell frayed in two places (exterior collar and interior below the right pit zip). Given the extreme deterioration of the shell, I'll have to return a jacket I otherwise like.
