I purchased this jacket for my first winter trip to northern Vermont. While there the temperature range (during a two-week period) was 21 below to 55 above zero and I wore this piece every day, as a mid layer with a light quilted coat for sightseeing, with a waterproof shell for snow sports and by itself on the milder days and while driving. I was perfectly warm in all conditions and comfortable going in and out of buildings, just removing the outer shell to eat in restaurants, etc. without becoming overheated. The black color is very neat looking and almost dressy if you need it to be, e.g., having a nice dinner on a sub-zero evening; the EMS logo is there but not obvious, which I like.
I also like the stretch and fit. I tried on a lot of winter gear that felt constricting. I have curves and this jacket has a feminine shape and fit.
The fleece lining is a plush lining but easy to slip in and out of. I tried other plush-lined jackets that stuck to my shirts and sweaters when trying them on.
The hood can be drawn to cover a good portion of your face in really bitter cold, which I did appreciate. The only change I would make is to put a placket on the inside of the zipper to make the neck more comfortable when fully zipped.
I wasn't sure about this jacket and the weather has been so warm I couldn't give it a go outside to see if it would keep me warm when the wind was kicking up. Finally, a wet, windy, cold day arrived--I put on the jacket for a hike out in the surrounding hills. Was warm as could be. It did a great job of cutting the wind, protecting me from the drizzle, and keeping me warm. It is fuzzy on the inside which I like. The small fit well (5'4", 125 lbs)with the arms just a tad long, but that works for me. The pockets zip which is important to me as stuff is forever falling out of my pockets. Great travel jacket as well as it can serve many functions-with a hood no less. Love it.
I like this jacket much better than other softshell jackets I tried on because I feel like the material is much less stiff and bulky. I like the hood for cold or rainy days, and it lays flat when you're not using it. The jacket has a flattering cut, but still allows me to wear layers underneath on colder days. The fleece lining is comfortable and warm, and this is a perfect jacket for spring and fall in Vermont.
Great All Around Jacket
I wear this jacket daily and am regularly impressed with how it fits, keeps me warm, and doesn't constrict like many jackets like this have in the past. Smart design includes fleece lining, zip pockets, functional hood, and a little fleece liner in the sleeve to keep breezes out. As a curvy, long waisted woman, this jacket fits with out fuss.
Excellent quality jacket!
I should start by saying that I don't usually review products, but I made an exception for this jacket. Kuddos to EMS for this well designed, comfortable, high quality jacket. I've used it for hiking and snowshoeing in cold/windy conditions and I was very comfortable.
Love this jacket. Fits great and I'm a small build where most coats are too big. Small fits great even in arms
Good in 20 degrees and wind. I haven't encountered colder yet but with an extra base layer expect it will be fine
I love this jacket and get so many compliments on it. I live in the north east and so far it has been plenty warm for me when outside in the snow.
Perfect for spring and fall weather in the north east. Also will work with layers underneath in the winter. Feminine cut. I love this coat!
Bought for my wife for everyday cooler weather, hiking etc. Great fit, looks good. She loves it !!
This coat is very comfortable and wind and water resistant for outdoor activities. The color is flattering.
