Great pants for lots of occasions.

I only got these a few weeks ago, but they are great. I wore them snowshoeing once, but will primarily wear them in place of jeans in casual settings and when working outside. They look great, feel great, and should hold up well. I like that they are a little different and what most guys wear. I really could us a longer inseam than 34", and maybe they are a little short. I wish they had more colors available in 34 long.

Good pants - but some details gone

I would highly recommend these pants. This purchase is actually the 4th pair I've bought. One disappointment is that some nice small details were eliminated on this pair. I think my prior purchases were around a year ago. Red accents on one belt loop, a red tool loop, and red piping in the waistband are all gone now. Just seems like cheapening them up. Still great fit and sytle - just nice as nice overall.

Good pants

Liking these pants. The quality seems to be on par with more expensive brands. I think they will hold up to the abuse I will give them. My only issue with them is that the right thigh pocket is about useless. I am hoping EMS will at least make the pocket big enough for a smart phone with a case, because I plan on buying more of these pants.

Best work pants I have owned

This will be my second pair of Fencemenders, and they are the best pants I have ever owned. Done tree work, yard work, land clearing, and 15 mile backpacking trips in these. I bring them fishing, into the woods, and into school. Pockets are perfect for everything and anything. If you do serious outdoor activity, you need a pair of these!

awesome pants

Fantastic pants. Bought one pair in the store, and then bought two more pairs online because i liked them so much. Well made just run a little small. I normally take a 32 waist, 34 length and upsized to a 34-34. They are super comfortable and well made. These are my favorite pants. Very highly recommend!

Good looking work pants

I got a pair of these for my husband last year, and he loves them. I also love how they look on him- they fit well and have more style than your usual working pant. I love the red loops! I went back for another pair in a different color this year for Christmas.

Love the fencemenders

I have worn Caharrts forever and tried other work pants and these are the first that truly fit well and can compete. I would love another side pocket on the left leg for tools/ iPhone and a better side pocket on the right side for cell phone. Needs to be a little bigger.

Overall good pants!

Good pants. Love the design and the fit. Do everything and very comfortable. Would highly recomend them to anyone. One down side is quality is a little less then perfect. But that is expected when you are paying less then half of what other companys charge for the same pants.

Great pant, too short

Bought these too work outside. They're great, well designed pants EXCEPT they are too short! I'm 6' with a 32" waist and the 32" inseam is really about a 30". They need to lengthen the inseam to a true 32 or offer a 34". That would make these pants amazing!

Almost perfect

I really like these pants, the fit and style is great. They would be 5 stars if the thigh pocket was a little deeper. You should be able to slide a cell phone in that pocket and not worry that it will fall out when you sit down.

Negative Reviews:

they lowered the qualitie

They changed these pants for the worse. There was a red hammer loop in the little leg pocket, not it is gone. The waist used to have a stretch element to it, a red band sown into it, it is now gone.

My guess is that the profit margins got to slim for their liking so they had to find a way to use less material.

Less pant for the same money. not worth the price tag.

These pants suck.

If your looking to wear these pants in the office, then get them and try to pick up some ladies. If your looking to use them on any kind of expedition, then you better bring a pair for each week. The butt wears out, the knees rip, zippers break and bottoms fray with any kind of strenuous use. Poor quality pant.

Not every one on the planet is 5'11'

These pants look awesome however due to EMS's lack of foresight or just being cheap they offer very few options for those of us with a shorter inseam. Most EMS men's pants come only in a 32" inseam. Patagonia, Mtn. Hardware, Kavau...have figured out how to offer multiple inseam lengths, it's about time EMS does as well!!!!

32 inch inseam only ?

my friend just got a pair ,they look good . i was going to switch from wearing carharts to these, but there is no inseam options. man what a deal breaker

Not so much

Why does EMS offer so few leg lengths? I purchased a couple pairs of these and the patrols online. The fencemakers are cut for someone who has a 36 inch inseam, and the patrols which I got in a short had a reasonable leg length but had a zipper that was half way down to my knees. I'm 5'10" with a 32 inch inseam so my legs are a little short, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't have the option to buy the pants I want and have them fit. Everything in this world is customizable, pants unless these they're elastic can not be one size fits all . I don't know why EMS is so far behind. So in short if they fit I would have not returned six pairs of pants.

Re-design is very disapointing

These have been my favorite pant for awhile now and I just bought another pair. At first I was excited because they are now available in short/reg/long inseams. Well that excitement has turned to dismay. Upon putting my new pair on, after getting home, I found The pant legs are now too baggy and the bottom is way too wide. I measured it against other pairs of Fencemender's in my wardrobe and found that the new pair is 1" wider at the bottom. Now they drag with any pair of boot or shoe I have, very disapointing. It also seems that they changed to a thinner material. Before I would have rated the pants with 5 Stars, now I don't know if they even deserve the 3 Stars I'm giving them.
Tony at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 01/01/2013

not getting better

the design has been changed to a wider pant at the bottom of the leg. this makes the pant flap and is unattractive. for its designed and named use, the material is now flowing over even the biggest boots, and is thus too wide.

Fencemender Pants

The Thigh Pocket doesn't fully fit an I-phone, it's too short .. To make such a great pair of pants and to fall short on pefect is a shame

Love these pants, but

The only complaint is that the both legs had the seam above the knee patch blow out. Great pants while they lasted.
