Great winter socks

I wear these socks everyday in the cold seasons. I have couple pair of these socks and use over a regular pair of socks everyday to keep me warm and for the extra soft comfort. Then I use as slippers when I take my shoes off after work. My only complaint is that after a couple weeks the socks started to pill but it is probably because I really do live in them. Other than that, they are fantastic. Look great and feel great. A must for a stroll outside in cold weather. People say to me, what's the big deal about socks? When you live in New England, especially winters, when your feet are warmer, so are you. Try and see and you too may be living in them like me.

comfortable and fits well

I used this for traveling for Christmas, around the house, to go to functions, and general everyday use. It was a lot more comfortable than expected and kept my feet warm. My only con is the aesthetics. I wish there were other patterns and larger range of colors available, but besides that, it's a good product. I own 4 pairs. I bought these to replenish my sock supply. I own two similar pairs which lasted two years and counting without any heel or toe wear issues. Although lightweight, I use them for snow sports without any problems.

These are the first socks I reach for!!!

I've been wearing these socks for about 4 years. I bought several pair initially and just recently decided it was time to replace them. These socks held up nicely for several years. I never did get a hole in them but they were starting to show signs of wear after some heavy use. They are extremely comfortable and relatively inexpensive compared to the other brands. I use wear them for everday use but they are also great for warm weather hiking in the spring, summer, and fall. I highly recommend them.

great socks

I got these socks for my boyfriend because he lives in Boston and it gets really cold walking around in the winter. He wears them every day and won't take them off! He said they keep his feet warm even when he wears sneakers in 10 F weather. They're warm but don't make his feet hot once he gets to work, either. I bought him another 2 pack and he was really excited. He's usually an XL sock but these in L fit perfectly. They ship quickly

Good Warmth For Polyester

I wore these socks while hiking and hunting. I was on the open plains with some coulees. It was windy, cold, and humid with no cover, in the 15-25 °F range. These socks performed well, and kept me warmer than I expected. They also held up well while dragging a deer out up the coulee and over the flat. My feet are terribly hard on the heels of socks, but these socks held up well with very little heel wear. I would recommend these socks.

Big Fan of these socks!

I owned these in the past and was glad they were still available. These are great socks, very comfy and not too thick that they make your hiking shoes too small. I bought 8 pairs....cant believe I am talking about socks this way. I wear them hiking, biking, or with sneakers. They are priced much lower than the smart wool, and I prefer these over smart wool for their comfort and breathability.

Works as advertised.

Sometimes a loop of the synthetic threading gets loose inside the sock and it catches a toe as you pull it on. The solution is - do not pull on the loop, just turn the sock inside out and cut the loop off with sissors. This doesn't happen all the time (if it did I wouldn't have purchased more of them) but it does happen occasionally.

High quality, comfortable, good price

These are hiqh quality socks, similar to more expensive socks, perhaps with less padding.
I find that many hiking socks are way too tight on the ankles, thankfully these fit very nice with or without liners. I haven't had them for very long, but I've washed them several times and they seem fairly durable so far.

have worn them everyday for 3 years

3 years ago i bought 6 pairs of these socks, they are the only socks i own, i wear them everyday. They have taken me all over the world, on all sorts of adventures. the heels and toes are starting to wear through, so it is time to buy some new ones

Great Vegan Option

I needed socks for hiking that were NOT made of wool. These socks were a perfect alternative and kept my feet dry and I didn't get any blisters. I even gave a pair to a friend who was going hiking, too. Highly recommended for anyone, not just those avoiding wool socks.

Negative Reviews:

Better suited for the summer

I was excited about these socks becausae I thought they would be an economical alternative to Smartwool socks. They are not very well insulated so I would not suggest them for cold weather. Because they are made of synthetic materials, I find that they do not really wick away moisture, thus I have nicknamed them my "stink bomb" socks (That's coming from someone that typically does not have smelly feet).

Get what you pay for

I had hoped these would be good quality, less expensive alternatives to SmartWool socks. Instead, these socks are a waste of money.

In short order (two or three uses) the material wore off at the heel and ball of the foot. I'm left with comfy warm ankles and scratchy gauze underfoot.

Don't waste your money on these unless EMS improves the quality of these socks.

[...]

They wore through right away, in less than ten wearings. This is very different than the last batch of these that I bought that lasted for three years of wearing once a week.

Warm, No Blisters, Slightly Large

I purchased these socks for a 4-day hike across the White Mountains from Mt. Washington down the Presidential Range. We got caught in 36 degree weather, pouring rain, and 80 mph wind that lasted into the night. My shoes soaked through but these socks did not create any blisters or other discomfort. While wet, they felt warmer than other socks I have tried and kept me going.

They don't dry quickly, but the last day I put on socks that were cool to the touch and, so long as I was on the move, my feet were very comfortable.

They do run a little big for my feet (11 US) and the heel was up higher towards my ankle. I got a L but I will get a M next time.

Tossing them out after a few months

I grabbed one of these 2-packs while checking out and used the socks on a number of High Peaks hikes. Even with hand washing off the mud and hang drying them, the material wore out in the heels. Although comfortable and reasonably priced, I expected these to last longer than they actually did (about 4 months).

Not like they used to be.

I used to buy these socks all the time and when the old pairs finally gave out, I purchased these new ones and the quality is totally different. They seem much thinner, and not as soft or as fitted as prior models.

"Not as good as my old pair"

Good for everyday use but after a few washes they start to pill. I don't think they will be as durable as the last pair i bought several years ago.

Good pick

I keep the thermostat down low to save on heat bills, so want warm socks for everyday use. These are great and not bulky. Machine wash is a plus.

to light

Thought I was buying a more heavy hiking sock. this sock would be perfect if it was heavy !!
john at Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) on 01/01/2009

Cushy but some slippage.

Good cushioning but the heels tend to slip.
