Excellent jacket for many uses

Received one as a gift from my wife about 4 - 5 years ago. Used it primarily as a shell for skiing and snowboarding in temps ranging from sub-zero wind chills to spring slush. Great wind / rain / cold protection. I wear Hot Chillies/ similar base layer and a good fleece as a second layer, with the EMS shell on top for skiing / boarding on average winter days. It replaced a very similar North Face jacket that cost quite a bit more, and I like the EMS jacket better. Good vents too, which help a lot when whether warms up or I am working hard in powder. Bought a replacement a few weeks ago on sale - an exceptional value (< 1/2 what I probably would have paid for North Face). It appears to have changed only slightly in terms of cosmetics. Highly recommended.

Simply my favorite jacket ever...

I have literally traveled the world in this jacket over the last 5+ yrs and it has never failed me. No complaints about the fit (as others have) as I've used it as a top shell when needing to layer and it works great. My original still hasn't failed me but I'm buying a spare for when it eventually gets tired. It rolls up to the size of a small water bottle so it's great for a day pack or travel where luggage is limited. Another advantage...I'm 6'6" and it has great length and fit.

I cannot recommend this jacket enough.

"No puffy jackets"

My teenage son never wanted to wear a jacket in the winter, in the rain, never. But he wears this one because it's not "puffy" and it works. On very cold days he wears a fleece under it and it's fine for him. He can also stuff it into his backpack and not have to carry it around.

Great addition to my quiver of outerwear

This is a great addition to anyone's tool kit of outerwear. It can be worn any time of year, and does a great job of keeping out the wetness, yet evacuates sweat/moisture very efficiently. There are plenty of vents and adjustments to make this a perfectly good fitting shell. Sizing appears to be true.

Great jacket

Great Jacket - not a full multi-layer jacket that I expected, but still a great, lightweight, waterproof shell.
It runs a little lean, I'm 5'6" and 150lbs and a medium is just right/snug. If your going to wear a fleece or puff under the shell, I'd go up a size.

My everyday jacket

I lost mine in an airport, but loved it some much I re-ordered the same jacket. My only nitpick is that it's cut a bit too big around the middle for my size.

Marvelous, as expected!

Light hiking, work on campus. It is light enough for warm weather wear, but anticipate also great use in moderately cold weather with a fleece. Very pleased!

Great Product-

Great coat. This is my second Orion jacket. First one lasted many years, but finally gave up after much service.

Happy I got this jacket

Fit is good for layering. No issues thusfar. Blocks the wind very well. Zippers are stiff, but feel substantial.

Delivers as promised!

Exactly what I was looking for...

This Jacket is NOT SYNC Compatible

First off, I like this jacket a lot. The only real problem with this item is that it is NOT SYNC compatible. Previous versions of this jacket were SYNC compatible, having the snaps at the wrists and neck to snap in a fleece. This jacket doesn't have these snaps. Yes, it's annoying.

The only other minor caveat is that when pairing a large Orion jacket with a large EMS-branded fleece, the fleece is a little longer than the jacket. To get around this, simply cinch up the fleece with the waist bungee cords and it will tuck up under the jacket.

In all, I am happy with the fit of the jacket, once I cinched up the fleece. It is 18 degrees outside and I wore my new Orion jacket paired with an EMS-branded fleece. I was warm enough to walk to work and didn't feel cold.

If I would have known that the new version of the Orion wasn't SYNC compatible, I might not have purchased it or tried to find the other or older version of the Orion jacket that was SYNC compatible.

Nice material, but odd fit

I liked the finish and material of the jacket, but ultimately did not like it due to the fit. It just feels odd around the mid section and didn't have enought great features for me to keep it. I am 5'10 180 lbs. and the large fit mostly as expected.
