DIfficult to chose size

This was a gift so I can not comment on the quality or performance. However, it was darn near impossible to choose a size in S-M-L. It would be much better if there was some indication that "L" was recommended for heavy hiking boots size 10-12 or lightweight boots size 11-13 (THESE SIZES ARE MADE UP FOR PURPOSES OF EXAMPLE AND ARE NOT AN INDICATION OF TRUE SIZE) or something like that. It is easier to sneak a look at someone's boot size, harder to get the measurement around their calf. That being said, they look to be decent quality if you can guess the fit. The cord under the foot was a bit short for heavy boots, but you can always replace that yourself if need be.

Good value

I purchased these gaiters to use in Afghanistan for my current job as an Army civilian. I don't use them all the time, but it's nice to have them in my pack. I've modified them by replacing the flimsy instep cord with a piece of braided wire cord and a keychain clip, and placing two snaps at the top and bottom of the velcro closure strip, as the velcro tends to gather bits of crud over time, and loses it's stickiness.
Overall, they are a decent gaiter at a price that I won't mind replacing every year or so.

3rd Summer and Counting

I use these almost every weekend, April to October, Hiking the Adirondack 46 High Peaks. I have never had a single issue with them. They work as intended. The lace on the bottom is better than a buckle because it's easily replacable in a pinch. Three years and dozens of peaks and the original laces are fine!. They are easy to hose off after a muddy hike. My two sons (teenagers) also have them and all three pairs are Fantastic! Worth the money for the protection and performance they provide.

Solid gaiters for the money

These gaiters are ideal for the casual weekend trip user, especially for the price. Rugged velcro front access and adjustable arch strap make it easy to put on and take off. Decent weight nylon construction stands up to typical winter trail abuse. The only very minor complaint is that a cord lock adjuster for the arch strap would have been nice, but very easy to add if you so choose.

Easy on and off

These are very easy to get into and stay put once on. I use them mostly for snowshoeing, but have taken to wearing them on snow nights while operating a snowcat. They make it really easy to keep snow from entering cab which fogs up windows. They can be worn all night with no discomfort. Great product they keep my pants cuffs dry!!!

Excellent product

These gaiters are excellent: simple and effective. The tie the under-the-foot could use a speed closure rather than a simple tie. Materials and quality of work is great. The wide and strong Velcro closure makes putting on and taking off a breeze. Top closure is comfortable and strong. These are a great gaiter. Use for hiking, skiing, snowshoeing.

Solid, general purpose gaiters

I bought these gaiters for moderate snowshoeing and they work great for that. Considering the modest price, these are solid, reliable and cost-effective gaiters. Minor quibbles include a shoelace-like instep strap and not quite enough coverage over the lower boot laces. Still, I would recommend them to just about anyone and would buy them again.

Problem solving gaiters

I am a motorcycle commuter and use these gaiters for two things, rain and windchill. They are great under rain pants as they keep water from getting into the shoes and are a good wind break with highway speeds that result in a 20 degree windchill. Easy on and off.

Good protection for the price

I wear theses when there is deep snow out. They work Great. I did have to add a longer cord to fasten under my boots. I plan to add a quick release buckles to fix this.

Negative Reviews:

Ok for around the yard.

First off this is not a bad pair of Gaiters. If you're just going in the back yard or moving snow off the driveway a couple times a year then they will work great. I used these Gaiters three times before one of the grommets let go on a snowshoe hike in Franconia Notch. They can be very hard to put on and don't hold up too well to weekend hiking/walks. I would spend the extra money and upgrade to the next EMS model. It's well worth the money (I did return them and upgrade).

Spindrift Gaiters

Purchased for snow shoeing.
Don't like lace design for under boot.
Would have paid more for something better that attached nylon top to boot.

Close, but not quite

These are so close to being good! Sturdy Velcro keeps them from coming off but cord on the bottom going under your foot is too long and the hooks on the side are facing the wrong way so they don't hold and there is no way to tie them on. I purchased them for a snowshoe event in Michigan over New Year's and the cord kept flapping around and getting caught in my snowshoes. If you are handy with a sewing machine, these could possibly be altered. A grommet would do better than the current hook system.

They are very easy to pack and very lightweight. They didn't cover as much of my boots as I thought they would but I stayed warm and dry.
