Edelrid Fraggle Full-Body Climbing Harness Reviews:

The best harness for young children!

Quite simply, this is the best harness for young children. I've worked at a couple climbing walls with young kids, and the Petzl Simba and Oustiti seem the standard for the little ones (so I will therefore make a lot of comparisons). But the Edelrid Fraggle is easily a cut above the Petzl products.

First of all, the harness is great for smaller children. I've used it with my child when she was a bit under 3 years, and it worked great. The webbing slack on the Fraggle is cleverly located high up on the shoulder. So even if you have it adjusted down quite a bit for toddlers, all the extra slack will not be dragging on the ground, or get tangled in your child's legs (like it would on the Petzl Simba). While I realize that the Simba is designed for kids over 5, and Ouistiti is for 4 and up, there are not many choices for smaller toddlers and preschoolers. The Petzl harnesses will actually work safely with smaller children (its not like they will fall out of the harness)but the main problem with those harnesses, is all the extra slack on the straps just gets in the way. Of course, you can tie or tuck away the extra slack. But they will invariably become loose again, and get in the way, as a friend of mine (who also climbs with this preschool daughter) advised me.

The other great thing about the Fraggle, is that other kids (full body) harnesses are little more than webbing and buckles. The Fraggle actually has some good padding. Probably not needed all that much from a comfort standpoint (kids weigh so little, so not much weight is actually bearing down on the webbing straps). But what makes this a great feature, is that the harness actually keeps its shape. The leg loops stay open, so the harness is much easier to put on than other kids harnesses (which just about any parent will appreciate). And it keeps its shape while in your pack, so it doesn't get tangled and twisted (like other kids harnesses always do).

Furthermore, the fit seems comfortable on my child. It appears well made, and I look forward to many more years of climbing with my child with this harness.

Bottom line, if you are looking for a harness for a young child GET THIS HARNESS. You will not be disappointed!

fantstic skiing and climbing

I have used it at teh climbing wall and have had great succes with our two year old. What was the big seller was the skiing oportunity. You can attach at each hip so you can help turn them attach as well at the top of the back loop so you cn lift them up.The loops are big enough to go over ski boots which is great if you forget to put the harness on before. Little guy loves skiing with the harness.

Safe and Secure!

Having two toddlers and just being occasional climbers ourselves, we really wanted a secure, full body harness for the kids. We are not disappointed. This fits them both very well and is easily adjusted. It fits securely over thier little shoulders and around their bodies. It is soft in all the right places. Great buy.
