The Eider Women's Montmin Down Jacket has a long and stylish silhouette that belies its protective, rugged construction and capability. This jacket is stuffed with 550-fill duck down plus low-profile synthetic insulation for the ultimate in toasty-warm comfort. The exterior delivers burly waterproof, breathable protection, along with a soft feel and cool heathered look. The ample adjustable hood snaps off for a streamlined look when it's clear skies. Adjustable cuffs and a front zip flap also help keep out the cold. The hand pockets feature zips and flaps to protect and secure your goodies.
I love the EIDER Montmin down jacket, because the cut and fit are feminine and flattering. Eider was founded in the 1960's in France by a tailor.....and that heritage is really apparent on this jacket. The seaming detail, and paneled construction give the jacket a very nice fit.
It is so NOT the square front, square back, with a cylendar sleeve sewn on like so many down jackets out there. This 550 fill down jacket is not overstuffed, but is still very warm. The soft outer fabric feels like a brushed twill, with almost a peach fuzz feel. It's DEFENDER (Eider's membrane) so it is waterproof and breathable. The fabric also makes it a lot more abrasion resistant than a nylon down jacket.
Since it is a tailored cut, some women may find they want to go up a size....just to account for wearing heavier sweaters/fleeces underneath. If that's not your style, and you want to wear lighter sweaters, shirts underneath than I recommend buying true to size.
This is the perfect jacket for around town, to the office, apre ski...you name it!
