Emotion Spitfire Kayak -
The ST Performance Hull gives these sit-on-top kayaks a surprising amount of speed and tracking without sacrificing stability. They are equipped with the kind of features typically found on more expensive kayaks. The Spitfire 8 has a Comfort Rest System (CRS) seat, a tankwell with cargo-net lacing system for gear storage, and self-bailing scupper holes to quickly drain water from the cockpit and tankwell. The larger Spitfire 9 is equipped with a Solace Hatch for easy-access gear storage and a CRS 2 Next Generation Seat with bottom and back padding. Both feature a sit-on-top design that allows more freedom of movement (you can even stand), and makes entering and exiting the kayak easier, even in open water. Paddle ledges to secure paddles and side carry handles. Molded-in footwells for comfortable and secure foot bracing. Made in USA.

Best little sit on tops!

We love our Emotion Spitfires! They are compact/light in weight and one person can CARRY it.. :)
They fit inside our travel trailer nicely, so they are easy to transport. They are stable on the water and do NOT tip easily. My husband I are retired and we really enjoy that they are not tippy.. they are short so they don't "streamline" through the water like one that was 11 or 12'. They are enjoyable and I fell secure when paddling. We have taken them into the Ocean (very calm days) as well as lakes and smooth river kayaking..
We love the idea that they were sit on tops! Much more versatile..sit ins people don't like taking them into the ruff water..
We love them!!!

nice little kayak

First off you need to buy top end paddles for any kayak you may buy. Yes, paddles do make a differance. With that being said I bought one of the eight footers for fishing small lakes and streams. Very stable and fairly easy to controll and can be tossed in the back of a pickup or suv very easily. Seems to be well built ( I have hit a rock or two with it). I own three other kayaks and for what I bought it for it works very well. You must understand, this is not an expedition kayak but one that you can have alot of fun with.

Negative Reviews:

Not worth the plastic its molded from

This kayak is horrible. I am 170 lbs. I bought this to use as a dinghy from my yacht on a buoy to the marina 100 yards away. In a no-wake, perfectly stagnant area... going 100 yards... it was a major chore because the kayak doesn't track at all... It would not remain straight. I paddled like crazy on the right side and it would not stop veering right. Nearly tipped me over. If you stop it will almost do a 360 on it's own. There is nowhere to store anything and water comes throught the holes and you will be soaked. I would be better, and I would have used less energy just swimming... and would have been just as wet. Don't waste your money on this one! I'm returning it and getting a closed in model.
