Great Compact, Lightweight, Backpacking

I used this tent on a winter camping trip. It was very easy to set up. Obviosly before you take any tent on a camping trip, you would open it up and see how it works. I did that and we got the tent set up within 10 minutes. It is also very waterproof. The double wall works great. Water does not come in at all unless the inner wall touches the outer wall. You will find this happening on any tent. Its just common sense not to touch an exposed wall. Also, the tent was very well structure and sturdy. The outside wall is the structured part with the poles and the inner wall easily clips to the inside. There are 5 poles (4 in the main section and 1 for the vestibule) all which are lightweight and very sturdy. They also slide into a full sleave instead of a partial sleave with clips. Even though this may take a couple minutes longer to put the poles into a full sleeve, the tent is completely sturdy all the way to the bottom. The outer wall also has a semi-structured floor which means the sides are connected by strips of a floor looking like an X with a line through it. Don't get this confused with the inner wall which has a fully structured floor. The tent also has built in vents but, when the tent is full to capacity, make sure to crack open the other vents located on the inner wall ceiling and two small triangles on either side of the back entrance on the outer wall. Finally, this tent is great for backpacking. It compacts to a small size and I was able to fit the tent, my presonal gear, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad all in the same backpack on a winter trip. Like I said before, this is a great tent and is definately worth the money.

Hotel California

This tent is big. It will sleep 3 easy. The best features are two doors, the tent clips into the fly so you could pack the tent separate if it was raining, plenty of vents on the roof and floor, enough space for two OR three with gear. It's very sturdy and visible. One person can set it up in 10-15 minutes. Down side is the tent is heavy. You'd need to split it up and share the load for back packing. Taking the poles out of the rain fly is best performed by two people as the poles are shock corded and you can only push them through the fly. Assembled they are about 12-13 feet long and a bit hard to manage by yourself. But with a tent that large you'd most likely have the helper you need at the ready. A great beefy tent ready for your travel adventure!

Solid, almost perfect

Using the tent currently on a motorcycle trip from New York City to Buenos Aires, Argentina. The tent has been used in just about every imaginable climate, from dry deserts, tropical rainforests and high altitude mountain camping to sandy, windy beaches. It has held up well, with just one small seam at the front door starting to give away after about 60 nights' use and the stuff sack completely ripping after the 20th use. For its weight and size it offers a lot of room and keeps pretty warm during cold nights, and almost sufficient ventilation on hot mornings on the beach. The weight and size is good for motorcycle or car camping but I wouldn't want to carry it on a backpack - its fairly heavy.

Great tent

Used this tent on three trips, two during 8+ inch snow storms. The tent held up like a champ. Almost no condensation to speak of. The dual walls are exactly what the doctor ordered for cold weather. The vestibules are perfect with the front one used for cooking. There is plenty of space for me and my son and our gear (in and out of the vestibules). The aluminum poles are sturdy. The one drawback is the channels are tight for setup and break down but what channel tents aren't. I would HIGHLY recommend this tent for anyone who is looking to upgrade to a 4 season. Next weekend it is up to Twin Mountains in New Hampshire... CANT WAIT!!!

Wondefully Versatile

First used in North Carolina mountains in October 2006. Great for my family of three with inner tent walls installed on colder nights. Heavy dew was not friendly to the tent (it took many hours to dry). Does this tent have a rain-fly for really wet weather? High winds? This tent laughed them off @ 40 mph! Great set-up, take-down and stability. Used with another tent for other gear on a 10 day Sukkot experience.

DO NOT BUY

My new tent is a great value, for 50 dollars. The problem is it cost [$]. For an all weather tent it is amazingly light duty. My tent came with a defect which, because of time constraints and the hassle of returning, my daughter fixed. One must crawl, almost on ones belly, into the tent. This is bad enough but, to make matters worse, there is no floor at the entrance so that one gets dirty entering the tent unless one is fortunate enough to have it set up in one's living room. When it rains, if there is a wind, the rain blows under the tent so that the floor is often wet. The zippers are difficult to work and because of the flimsiness of the material, I think will not last long. Other than these few minor details this is a wonderful tent and I am sure I will enjoy the whole few weeks it lasts.
