Eagles Nest Outfitters DoubleNest Hammock -

"When the Eagles Nest DoubleNest Hammock isn't hanging out in my backyard, I take it on all my spring and summer camping trips. The DoubleNest is way more comfortable than lying in a tent, and super easy to set up. I definitely recommend the insect screen though. Bugs suck."

"Earlier this summer I went on a bachelor party camping trip, and though it was great time, our group of 8 were heavily burdened by the tents we were taking. No Hubba Hubbas here. I'm talking large 6-man domes that were so old that we needed to bring extra blue tarps in case of inclement weather. Granted, we could've saved ourselves some trouble by not insisting that we bring three, but carrying just one of those beasts for a few miles will turn your arms to rubber. It was on the hike back to the cars that I decided to invest in ENO. My next trip was completely different.
The Eagles Nest Outfitters double-nest with slap-straps and fast-fly rainshield are awesome. I also have the mosquito net, though I haven't had to use it yet. All the pieces together weigh about 5 lbs, and everything is phenomenally compressible so I was able to fit and/or lash everything to my pack. NO RUBBER ARMS! Setup is as easy as finding two trees, and the slap straps provide extra feet to allow more options for lashing up the hammock. The Double Nest is really big enough for two, but you have to really like each other (really). The rain fly provides great cover and since the hammock is off the ground, there is plenty of dry ground underneath the fly for cooking or storing your pack. Get the ENO system and never worry about helping people carry their dumb tents again."

Eagles Nest Outfitters DoubleNest Hammock Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I had been looking for a way to get more comfortable at the campsite and this is exactly what I needed. I am a big guy (6'4" 190lbs) and folding camp chairs, unless they are large (and bulky to carry), tend to hinder supreme relaxation after a long day in the wilderness. I regret only now making the move to this hammock.

Being able to stretch out, off the ground, rock a little and outside of the tent is what we should all be striving for. Mission accomplished.

First off, it sets up in 3 minutes. The straps (sold separately) are fool proof. They slip around an anchored object (tree trunk, car rack, fence post) easily. There is a small loop at the very end that you pull the slack through and the weight in the hammock keeps it taught. Adjustments can be made due to the varying loops provided down the length of the slack that is pulled through the end loop. So you have plenty of distance to play with when its set up depending on how taught you like the support.

The hammock itself comes with carabiners at both ends, is strong, light and drys fast. It is also WAY easier to get in and out of than a traditional rope hammock. Even my mother-in-law could do it.

I haven't slept in it overnight yet, but that's about all I haven't done in it. The double gives you a little extra width, so I'd recommend getting some clips or clothespins to keep it closed above you. Another tip is to slip your sleeping pad into it for a little extra insulation underneath.

Also, I was a tad concerned about my back as I have had problems in the past. I'm happy to say that utilizing a hammock does not hurt.

If you camp, or if you like to relax, get this double yesterday.

I have had this thing since June of 2012 and I use it anytime I possibly can. You know why? because it is awesome!! Take it hiking to just chill in, overnight hikes to avoid sleeping on the ground with a sleeping pad or having to deal with a tent, can fit two people in it but unless you are REALLY comfortable with that person than you'll change your mind. Having a double nest though gives you more room for you though and is pretty easy to fit a sleeping bag in it and can be set up pretty fast, for best sleeping though try to get the hammock as taunt as possible, just makes it much more comfortable. Also the stuff bag is great for storing headlamps, phones, knives, whatever you carry around with you. I sleep better in my hammock than I do my own bed, and while working at a summer camp I slept in it nearly every night. Really bonded with this thing. If you use it for overnights be wise and make sure you are covered. You can either shell out the money to buy the rain fly which is nice to have or if you don't have the money to get both use a tarp, I use a 10x10 and works great. I have been really rough with mine so it shows some but even if it gets dirty you can wash it, no big deal. All together don't waste money on a brand new mattress, just get a hammock! Only downside I can ever think of with this thing is that making yourself get up and going for the day when your in one is super tough just because you'll never want to get out.

I had been eyeing up a hammock for a while now. Unfortunately I have been displaced for work and now live in the awful concrete jungle that is Chicago. After passing a park near my house recently I saw a dude cozy in his hammock in the trees. I couldnt resist any longer so I came home and purchased my ENO with the Slap Straps. The second it came in I ran to the park to test it out. It took me literally 2 minutes to set this bad boy up. You wrap those straps around a tree and hook your hammock in and you are set son. I got the double nest because I heard the extra fabric is nice when you want to wrap it around you (or if I ever find a cute boy to snuggle with). I put my nalgene in the little pouch and slung it over me and it wrapped me up like a little cocoon and didn't move for hours. You will draw a lot of stares by city dwellers but dont worry, they are just jealous. I definitely recommend the double nest for the extra space. Even with my big ass (5'10" 175) I felt totally spacious in my ENO cocoon and the fabric seems like it could hold an elephant. The best part about this majestic nest is how small it packs, which is about the size of a small cantelope (I think?). Unfortunately I have not camped with it yet but I definitely plan on it. I can't wait to get back to Utah and find two baller trees to post up between. Buy this hammock. Now.

This hammock was bought as an impulse buy years ago at Bonnaroo. I immediately started snoozing in it everywhere. I keep it in the car with some slap straps, and it is has earned its keep. Since purchasing, I found that there are much better hammocks out there designed for camping, however I am still really pleased with this hammock, and I will still use it after buying a camping hammock.
It fits myself and a lady rather nicely, as long as some compromises are made for comfort. When solo, the extra fabric lets you lay diagnolly which is really comfy. My dog (golden retriever) also loves to jump up in and will spent the entire night passed out in comfort. The material is durable enough to fend off her death claws (no holes!) . It works awesome as a gear sling and bench seat at the crag... really clutch on sketchy belay stations .
Two things to note: The double packs away into a much bulkier package than the single, and takes up alot of pack space, so if you are looking for space saving, go single. Also, if you intend to sleep overnight with this hammock, be prepared. Sleeping bag insulation underneath you gets compressed, and airflow under the hammock will rob every last joule of body heat from you. This isn't an issue on warmer nights, but when the temp dips and the wind picks up, you need to take some measure to stay warm.

The ENO DoubleNest is excellent for all experience levels of hammockers, whether you're taking yours camping, throwing it up in the backyard, or partaking in some extreme group hanging.
Things I LOVE about this hammock:
1. It fits inside of itself! It's like a tiny puffy nylon jacket that can easily come on any lightweight backpacking trip - but surprise! That's not a jacket! That's a hammock!
2. The attached stuff sack doubles as a makeshift beer holder!
3. This hammock comes with aluminum wiregate carabiners. No need to buy your own!
4. They come in awesome colors.
5. Though I enjoy a good solo hammocking day, the double can comfortably accommodate two.
CONCLUSION: In the three years of owning my Doublenest, I've had zero buyers remorse.
NOTE: This hammock doesn't come with hanging straps, it would be wise to procure some webbing.

Great item

Nice and light, sets up easy, and I dare you to not go to sleep. Put a day pack or something under your head or you'll get neck strain. It's great to read a book at a mountain lake in a nice level spot and not have to deal with ants and other assorted bugs crawling over you, I use netting over the top to baffle the skeeters. Buy the straps that go with it, get the longer ones (slap strap pro) which come in their own bag so you don't get tree pitch all over your hammock. Two-person really only holds one person unless you get along really well *grin*. Sleeping in it is good but you'll want a pad under you since it will get get cold on your back otherwise.
Scott B at Mountain Gear on 06/06/2010

I love my hammock so much I hang it in my house when I am not camping. It's my second bed/couch/lounge/ swing set. This is one of my favorite items I have ever owned especially because of that rad rasta color! I also advise buying the pro slap straps for this hammock, so many selections on height and distance! I can also highly recommend you purchase the bug net; you can drape the extra fabric over yourself like a cocoon but you miss out on the stars and that's a major part of sleeping in a hammock. Be smart buy yourself this amazing hammock for many good times and buy the recommended accessories so you can show up being way more baller than any other camper around!

Brooklynn Hall at Backcountry.com on 11/05/2013

First time we assembled it I was amazed at how fast and easy it went up. About 2 minutes tops. Once it was up though, I spotted a big chunk of 'fuzz' in the center. Turned out to be a hole in the fabric that must have happened during production.

Rock Creek being totally stellar (as always) allowed me to return it and they are sending me a new one (YEA!).

The brief amount of time that I put it together, had it up, and then dissasmbeled it, convinced me that I needed to own one. Preferably without a hole.

Awesome product (aside from the weird glitch), and fabulous customer service :)

Great for the Beach or Backyard...

This hammock is super comfortable and fairly easy to set up. However, after backpacking with it for a few days, I would probably consider something else for a true hamoock/backpacking experience. The entire system (hammock, tarp, bug net) takes entirely too long to set up compared to other hammock systems.

Also, with all the necessary components, it weighs almost as much as my 2 man tent.

That being said, I love it for just hangin out in for a few hours outside in my yard, the beach, or even car camping. If you're not a serious back packer and concerned with weight, this is a great hammock to invest in.
Nicole at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 04/04/2011

Awesome Hammock

This hammock is amazing, super light and durable, plus it is perfect size for me (6' and 200 lb)to sleep in at night and perfect size for me and my girlfriend to relax in during the day. my only thing is the SlapStrap Pro, they stretch. As many other reviewers have said they stretch so much that about 30 minutes after use I have to redo the straps. Other that the hammock itself is great for anything from recreational down by the lake to hanging it permanently in the backyard to taking it backpacking instead of a tent and mattress.

Negative Reviews:

Retro color is off

I love everything about this hammock but was disappointed with the color. I ordered the Retro color. In the picture the hammock is turquoise with yellow and purple accents. The hammock I received was highlighter yellow with pink and blue accents. The color is so bright that it hurts my eyes to look at too long. I wanted a hammock that I can relax in. It is hard to focus on anything besides the bright yellow.
Kelsey at Campmor on 10/10/2013

Neutral Reviews:

Great hammock, but don't trust pictures!

I've been wanting an ENO doublenest for a while, so I finally decided to order one. After debating on what color to get, I decided to go for the retro color. On the website, the picture showed a blue hammock with yellow and purple borders. However, once the hammock arrived, the main portion of the hammock was yellow, with pink and blue borders. I was slightly disappointed because I was expecting something completely different, but I do really like the hammock despite the mistake with the coloring. ENO makes really good quality hammocks, just make sure you know what color you are actually getting to prevent disappointment! If I had googled retro before ordering instead of just trusting the campmor website, I would have known what the true hammock was going to look like.
tusvmjac at Campmor on 10/10/2013

not that comfy, but lightweight

Used this during a weekend outing... wraps your body way too tight... no room to move around. The second night I modified it by tying knots in the fabric on both sides and then tying a piece of paracord to the knots that stretched underneath where my shoulders would be. That worked much better because it kept the canopy open at the top. I also used a sleeping pad inside it underneath my sleeping bag.

Better than sleeping on the ground.
wild willie at Campmor on 10/10/2013

Good hammock

Comfortable and highly recommend for backyard type of camping. I wouldn't use it for any serious back packing as the hammock with all its necessary components (slap straps, tarp, bugnet) aren't the most seamless hammock sleeping system and can be bulky/heavy compared to others.

I love using it on my front porch or stretched between two trees in my backyard :)
Nicole at Rock/Creek Outfitters on 03/03/2011
