A Great, Lightweight Piece of Assurance

I also have the Equinox 8 X 10 Ultralight Silicone Nylon tarp and they are great additions to my canoe trips, which is primarily how they are used. Though not as specialized as our group's Buckley Dry Fly, they are quick to set up and can be used to quickly cover gear if we are not in camp yet facing a storm. The smaller one can also provide coverage over or inside my older Sierra Designs Lightning tent. Great if you are not above the treeline or in mountain conditions.

Better than expected

The images makes this look heavier than it is. Since the given weights aren't always accurate I wasn't sure this would work for backpacking but it was great. One of the side grommets did start coming off on the first use but the edges are well-stitched so it didn't cause any real problems. The tarp is really thin and lightweight yet still durable. We had a rain storm with high winds & it held up great.

Good lightweight tarp

We use this as a lightweight cooking fly for backpacking. Easy to set up using line, hiking poles and trees. Kept us and our "kitchen" dry during showers. Pretty cramped for three, would be about right for two. Packs down smaller than most ponchos. Be sure to tie on plenty of guy lines before you go and pack some lightweight stakes. Kelty triptease reflective line works great.

So Handy

This is the second tarp we've purchased. The first one has been through the ringer and still works great, but there are some minscule holes in it. We pack this for many uses, but the best, was the summer weekend that ended up thunderstorming the whole time. We set up the tarp to make a cooking shelter.

Great Value

The seams needs to be sealed to be fully waterproof, but that is par for the course. I would prefer web loops instead of grommets, for great versatility and strength, but have had no problems so far. I've used this trap in some crazy windy, wet weather.

Love this thing

Just bought this for a backpacking trip where we didn't want to haul a tent. We used it to cover gear or to make a small shelter over our heads to augment the rain protection of our bivys. Super lightweight but plenty strong.

Ultralight trap by Equinox

Great product, I only use backpacks with Molle webbing so I can attach external pouches. The trap fits perfectly in Blackhawks Nalgene bottle carrier which is mounted externallly on my day and three day pack.

Super lightweight and compact. Used as a ground tarp. Replaced the big bulky blue tarps that I used to carry. Might be a bit more expensive, but well worth it.

Quality product

Product research kept bringing me back to this tarp. I'm glad I bought it.
