Leak fix

If it leaks when new it is probably due to a burr on the outside or inside edge of the mouth where the mold creates a seam. Remove the offending cap and feel for a burr on the rim of the bottle. Trim lightly with a sharp knife of file gently with a nail file.

Also when climbing to altitude, the change in pressure can force a leak. I always squeeze some air out of the bottle before closing it creating a slight vacuum. Be sure to tip it so fuel doesn't go up into the reservoir when doing this. I also keep it on the outside of the trash bag liner in my pack. Unless I sit on it, it doesn't leak.

Perfect for alcohol stoves

Being able to easily measure the fuel going into the stove allows me to carry less fuel and cook more safely.

Negative Reviews:

I use the bottle to help light my SVEA 123. I burn a little in the resevior below the burner to warm it up for those not farmiliar. Its made of HDPE (plastic) which is the best type for holding alcohol and the shape is nice. The bottle leaks from the joint of the flip top cap. This is a particular problem when you have the flip top on the small side because when its in your pack the presure forces alcohol up the side tube into the small side and out the top while upright even if you only have 1oz of alcohol in it. If you plan to put this in your pack I suggest at least switching the flip top to the large side while its in you pack. I am pretty sure denatured alcohol can melt through plastic bags and such so I am not sure how helpful double bagging it would be. I won't be packing it with me except maybe when car camping.

The measuring dispenser top is a great concept. Unfortunately this container leaked, no matter how tight I screwed the caps on. It needs something to make the caps seal better. If I can find some sort of gasket material for that purpose, I might still use it, but otherwise it goes in the trash can. I might send it back but not sure if it's worth the trouble.

I don't recommend buying this unless you want to jury-rig something to improve the seal on the caps.

Some Flaws That Need To Be Improved

A neat design in the operation of measuring fuel for your stove. But really, the flip top valve needs to be replaced. If this bottle is not stored and kept in an upright position, disaster can occur in you backpack. I left this product at home and used a cough medicine cup to measure my fuel. Find a different cap with a spout and this can be put back into service in my trips.

Good bottle, leaky cap

It is nice to measure fuel.. Good size for a few days worth of fuel. The flip top pour spout seems like a good idea, except it leaks. Replace the flip top and the bottle works rather well. The reservoir is handy for measuring fuel, if only the flip top did not leak.

Finding the right size cap to replace the leaky flip top can be challenging .

It Leaks!

It's slender and great for measuring, but since it leaks, it has to remain upright in the pack inside doubled zip bags to ensure the leaks are contained. That single flaw negates all the positive aspects. I wouldn't have bought it had I known it leaks simply because I don't like to deal with the messiness of spilled liquids even if they are contained in plastic zip bags.

The flip top side leaked when the bottle was on its side. I fixed this with some plastic wrap.
