The Ergon BX4 Backpack is an all-day adventure pack built with comfort in mind. The BX4 is made to fit just about anyone with a 4 stage adjustable back length feature that will keep the bag from feeling too big or small. Unlike traditional backpacks, the BX4 better distributes the load and keeps the weight close to the body to stabilize and minimize movement while riding. The BX4 also features automatic adjusting straps and Ergon’s Adaptive Carrier System to ensure the fit will be just right just all-day comfort. The automatic adjusting straps are made possible by two D rings at the top of the shoulder straps and the Adaptive Carrier System directly connects the two shoulder straps to the load-bearing bottom of the bag for some structural support underneath the load. Ergon chose a well ventilated contact padding which promotes air flow to keep your back cool and dry for additional comfort.
Aside from outstanding comfort, the BX4 features a well planned layout offering a 30 + 5 Liter load capacity and pockets on the hip straps for items you need to get to on the go. The BX4 has 4 compartments, including an external helmet / wet clothes compartments and a completely separate bladder compartment to put your mind at ease. To top off their offer, Ergon included a loop on the shoulder strap in allow a Topeak iPhone Drybag to be installed and added some HiLumen reflectors for night time visibility. Ergon is known for well thought-out comfortable designs and the BX4 is no different, offering a large capacity all-day hydration pack that will suite just about anyone’s needs.
One cubic foot of capacity might seem alarming to those who've experienced weight shifts with an overloaded backpack, but Ergon's Adaptive Carrier System gives its 2013 BX4 the stability and control needed to comfortably and safely accomplish this. And it even expands and additional 300 cu. in. for more space.
The innovative Adaptive Carrier System connects the shoulder straps to a hammock-like structure that's designed to cradle the load. It also brings it as close as possible to the user, ensuring more stability than traditional backpacks. Additionally, the BX4 has four levels of vertical adjustment to allow fine tuning of the pack for varying torso lengths.
In between the lower pads, aluminum ribs provide additional structure and can be adjusted by bending them slightly for a custom horizontal fit. The cushioning pads are designed with ventilation in mind by using a large open weave that allows air to flow, and the pads are laid out to create channels. This permits fast drying to prevent irritation and discomfort.
Furthering comfort, the BX4's shoulder straps are self-correcting, via D rings at the top, to automatically find the ideal angle and ensure a correct fit. The wide hip belt distributes pressure evenly and has secure storage pockets for a phone or camera.
The BX4 does not come with a bladder, but it has a compartment and routing for one. The compartment features a large opening for ease of use and can hold either the Ergon BH200 or BH300 bladder. The 2013 Ergon BX4 comes in one color; Grey/Black.
