Great Little Speaker

It's definitely a good little outdoor speaker. Great design and ideas. I originally bought it to take around as a general speaker when going on vacations, camping, etc. I was really excited about the phone charging capabilities. Unfortunately, I accidentally left it outside in my backyard in the grass for an entire weekend while I was away. I think it must have rained. Everything seems to still work except the powered USB port.

I only got the chance to really test out how the speaker would do charging and playing audio all day once. It did well, but make sure your music device (iPhone for me) isn't in direct sunlight. This seems obvious, but may prove more difficult than you might think since the speaker needs direct sunlight to charge via solar panel. Not a huge deal, just figure out a way to keep your audio device shaded.

One thing I was a bit surprised by was how small the unit is. I didn't actually read that part of the specs before purchasing. I expected it to be a bit bigger, but it's size is actually great.

If great bass is a must have, don't buy this guy. Having said that, you really can't expect great bass from a speaker this size.

All said and done, I would buy this again.

Small Speaker, good sound, great feature

Got this as a gift for the 4th of July and I was a little surprised at the size of the speakers. Its small but puts out nice clean sound. Sometimes when the output is maxed out the base gets some distortion but it seems to be only with loud heavy base and the volume all the way up. Took it canoeing with me and we accidentally took a spill and the speaker held up okay although water got between the solar panel and the glass but its still fully charging and fully functional. Certainly splash-proof but not water-proof.

Charges my phone fully but charging a device will drain the battery fully. It needs to be charging in the sun to keep both devices running. I like it and would highly recommend it. Its lightweight and useful for backpacking. I put a clip on it to attach it to my pack and it works well.

I use it by the pool and often leave it on and charging in the window next to the pool. Even if its been playing all night, it gets light early in the morning and by the time I'm ready to use it, its fully charged up and running.

Almost perfect

The packaging of this speaker reminds me that Mark Twain once said, "The reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." The claims on the package are also exaggerated.

This speaker charges well in the sun and plugged in. Bluetooth and the auxilary input work well. The volume and clarity are suffiecent for it's size. The product is only slightly larger than half a sheet of loose leaf paper, which I personally did not expect. The photos I saw made it seem much larger.

The package is incomplete or barebones, depending on how you look at it. Only one cord is in the box and that is to a usb. If you dont have a usb charger you're out of luck. No auxilary cord.

What really upsets me is the lack of "water resistance." The first time I used the speaker I sprayed it with water to clean it, then stood it on end to dry. From that incident there now appears to be water in or under the solar panel. I've had it less than 48 hours and it may be ruined.

So far, so good.

Great for strapping to backpack for (urban) family hikes and sharing the tunes. Good for motivation while you do yardwork. Not super loud or precise sound, but a big benefit over most built-in mobile-device speakers and does quite well for its' size.

Plan to use this in concert w/ a SealLine zip case when kayaking and for camping. The reasoning is Bluetooth adds the ability to forsake a cord (and an avenue for leakage). I realize the Rukus isn't waterproof, but it's cheaper and a little more tolerant of mosture than a phone / tablet.

I haven't gotten much chance to test the solar charging yet; but it seems that a couple hours in the Oct AZ sun was enough to top it off after playing for ~3 hours. Will update if I am able once I've used it more.

go anywhere sound system

This was an amazingly unexpected gift to receive.

The sound quality, solar functionality, and durability of this product make it hands down the best item I have used.

I have used this on float trips, day trips to the beach, and when not on a trip it rests (and charges) on the arm of an Adirondack chair in the backyard. Splashes from whitewater or just the sprinkler system have yet to phase this device.

I recently started charging my iPhone with the solar charging capacity, and was amazed. I LOVE IT!

Though I received this Rugged Rukus as a gift, I plan to give it as a gift too.

High-quality, durable, and beautiful

I have only had this product for about a week, but I can already tell it's going to be one of my staple outdoor products. I took the rugged rukus to the beach and it was fantastic! Held up beautifully even after getting a bunch of sand on it. And the sound quality was perfect. Also nice not to have to worry about battery life. This thing was charging both my phone and the device just from its little solar panel. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an outdoor and easily movable sound system.

The best electronic device

Definetly the best electronic I own since iPhone! carabiner friendly, velcro straps friendly. Great sound while on the bicycle rack. Bought it four months ago, havent have to recharge using wall outlet since then. power never goes below 75% when outdoors. Even while charging iphone and listening to music using bluetooth. GREAT BUY!!! Wish it was 100% waterproof to take kayaking with me. Do your self a favor... BUY IT, you wont regret it.

Very cool

I would have given this five stars but the sound output isn't loud enough to suit a gathering of more than 5-6. But the sound quality is very good and the whole solar power thing makes this ideal for travel, outings or just some sound in the yard while reading. The built in lithium battery lasts along time even if its been a number of days since seeing sunlight.

Solar bluetooth speaker that blasts

I love this speaker. I can play music all day and charge my iPhone, iPod, too. When I am not out and about, I keep this in my backyard and don't need to worry about even a little rain on it.

Nice Addition

I use the Rugged Rukus when I work in the yard. It's nice that it stays charged while I work in the garden.

I can't comment on this product as I never received it

Product was paid for. Funds cleared. But never got. It's been difficult to track this package with all the holiday stuff going on. Plan on following up a little in depth when I get back from my holiday. Pretty disappointed.

Decent product

Bought this because its brilliant! And I love to have the option of tunes at camp. Its solar works well and for the price that should be the focus, it sounds great for any song thats just lows or highs but when both happen its not pretty. If I bought this for the audio then I would have returned it immediately. Basically they used a very cheap speaker to meet a price point I think and I would gladly pay $149 for this unit if it had component speakers (speaker for highs and one for lows)

But as a way to charge devices in the forest its great. And I still use it for music but when I'm listening its just poor enough sound quality that I am always bummed that I have to play it at 60% volume to sound clear and thats only loud enough for a 12' radius at camp.
