Stand up in, 4 windows, small footprint.
I have five tents, each with their purpose, and I purchased this one for camping comfort in moderate weather. Your getting four window view, smart for security, venting, or just to enjoy the scenery in all directions. The height of the tent with its screen meshed top allows you to sky gaze with privacy with the rain fly pulled back. I myself just attach the rain fly on the back poles in a folded drape, so I can easily and quickly pull in up and over to the front if I feel it is needed. This tents size is 8'X8' pole to pole, but internally the floor base footprint is 7 ½' X 7 ½' foot, not 8'. Not an issue for me, along with knowing all tent manufactures exaggerate tent people capacities, at least for comfortable use, so measure your equipment to the space. This tents pole and assembly system is solid and simple, and it goes up fast. You really only need to stake out the four corners and only use the additional four stake out guide lines if you expecting winds. Of course with this tents size and shape you wouldn't expect it to handle high storm situations, which is why I always bring along a smaller back up tent designed for harsh weather. This tent is designed for spacial comfort and I wish I found it earlier. The construction of the one I purchased was flawless and it has smart features designed in. If I could change anything on this tent, it would only be for more subdued fabric colors to blend into the environment. Also an accessory shade drape clip on attachment for the front of this tall tent would have been a nice extra. But, all in all, I really like this Eureka! Copper Canyon 4 tent just as it is.
Very Happy Campers
My Wife and I chose this tent for the cabin design (tall ceiling) and for a fairly small foot print in order to get into campgrounds with limited size tent areas (8'X8'). We have a queen size sleeping bag, with a few additional bags for clothing, there is really no room for anybody else, which is what we intended, the kids have their own tent to sleep in:)
It is very comfortable for the two of us, and it is easy to stand up and change clothing. Also, if/when it rains we can move the sleeping bag out of the way and bring chairs in and sit four people comfortably with plenty of headroom.
We dont have cots, but two single person cots would fit well, with plenty of room between the two. This tent could also fit four kids easily.
We are car campers, and do not have to carry the tent far, though it is not heavy, it would be too much to back pack it in to a location.
Our recent camping trip had us setting up and staying in 25-30 mph winds for 3 days. No problems at all, it is very sturdy and is a great wind breaker, we slept very well.
There are mesh pockets built in at head level to store things like wallets, car keys, phones, camping mirror, since we sleep on the ground it would be nice to have them also at a lower level in order to reach from a lying down or sitting position, but there are none. This would be the only thing that I would add, otherwise it suits us well.
Perfect for car camping
Bought this tent to use for car camping with our dogs. We have a small 3 man backpacking tent but the two of us didn't want to sleep with 2 dogs in that. Fits us, the dogs and our gear wonderfully. Its sized to fit 4 people and I imagine this could easily fit that many or more with plenty of room for gear. Love that I can stand up in it. Great ventilation when you open all the windows and roll them down and use the little loops to hold them (don't know what the other reviewer was talking about). Easy to set up and take down. Actually fits back in the zipped bag it came in. Never have used the guylines since no forecast for rain or wind when we've gone summer camping. Size fits great on designated tent platforms that many campgrounds here have. Holds its shape great. Don't know how well it holds up to rain and wind so that's why I didn't give it 5 stars.
Great car camping tent
Very, very easy to erect. I did it by myself the first time I used it. This tent has great headroom; you can stand and move around the entire tent. The windows have zippered covers so you can have the rainfly off and have total privacy if you need it, or keep them open for super ventililation and view. Used in the rain once and everything seemed very waterproof, even got water puddling under the tent (due to my own fault-I had the ground cloth sticking out beyond the tent footprint)and the floor stayed perfectly dry. Haven't used it in heavy wind, but it does have guy lines pre-attached to the rainfly which will be very handy when needed. The window flaps roll up and tuck into a pocket at the bottom of the window so they're not hanging down in the way as another reviewer said, although there are no loops to secure them.
There's nothing like a tent you can stand up in -- and this is a great, lightweight tent to take anywhere. The only thing I could wish for would be that it was easier to set up for one person -- I did it but it was a bit complicated to keep one side up without have the other fall down. But otherwise -- this is a great, inexpensive tent for all around use. One recommend -- the stakes are easy to push into the ground -- making it seem like you don't need to hammer them in. Bu then they come out easily......
Functional Campground Basecamp
Bought this a few years ago for the wife...only way she would go camping was if she could stand up and walk around inside the tent. After checking out the tents set up in the showroom, we bought this on the spot
We use it every year for a four or five day trip when we go to one location; set up camp and explore with day trips.
If you are looking for comfort on your next trip this is a tent you should consider.
I used the tent for the first time and bent two pegs trying to get them in the ground (rock and roots). It rained hard the first night--no leaks. I had a queen size air mattress with small suitcase and there was still plenty of room for my wife to stand up and change clothes.
Except for the flimsy pegs, this is really a nice tent for two adults.
I have the 10x10 version of this tent that I take to Boy Scout camp every year. The other leaders liked it so much we bought three 8x8 so all the leaders have a great place to stay. Super easy setup and take down, lots of space, high walls so it's easy to get in and out. Very sturdy; holds up well in serious weather.
We're super light backpackers, but since my wife's hip replacement surgery she hasn't been able to do any backpacking. Car camping, with an inflatable mattress, is a good compromise. This tent fits a full-size Aerobed, and the interior height means you don't feel cramped putting on your pants in the morning. Definitely the most plush "camping" experience we've had!
Easy tent to set up. Was disappointed with the D-Style door design. We had 3 adult and 1 preteen and all had the flap get caught in the zipper. Lucy someone was on the opposite side. Don't understand why no tent peg loop was not put on each side on tent door. I think that would of helped.
