I Always Use One with My Timberline
The first time I used a tent with a vestibule I knew I would always want a tent with one. I use a Timberline 4 frequently on outings because I have 2 teenage children and with my wife we go backpacking regularly. We all share the same tent and divide it 4 ways for carrying (works out to about 2 1/2 pounds per person). Our area of outdoor activities is on the west coast of Oregon and Washington. It is wet most of the year. A vestibule is a great place to store wet gear and shoes before crawling into the tent. It will also work as a great dog house.
The Timberline vestibule is designed to enter from the side. This means it is easy to use the other side for out of the way wet storage. Great for a family that is hiking in the rain. This side entrance also helps protect the tent's door from rain. I have a friend who uses 2 vestibules on his Timberline. One side for the dog and the other side for he and his 2 teenage sons' gear storage.
I have been using a Timberline vestibule on my tent since 1997. I always bring the vestibule with me. This vestibule was purchased to go on a used Timberline tent that I picked up at a garage sale for my oldest daughter.
The main con that I have with these vestibules is the zipper. It tends to snag. If you remember to use your finger as a guide you can prevent this. I will admit that I frequently forget and the heavier the rain the more likely I am to forget.
good overall, but flaps a bit in wind
In addition to making a spot for boots and packs, the vestibule makes a great storm door for the timberline tent, so when you get up before your partner, they don't get a blast of cold wind. We just wish it had more stake loops and ANY guy-out points, as it was not as stable as the rest of the tent during a very windy night and we had to re-stake it in the morning.
necessity for every tent
I have never used a vestibule in the 20 years of camping. Kept all the equipment inside the tent to protect from the weather. Bought this product on a whim and really liked it. Had just enough room to keep the backpack and shoes outside the tent and protect from the weather. Granted this tent isnt light, the vestibule didnt add much weight and can be rolled up within the tent.
I'm going to use it for the extra room to store my gear out of the weather, the vestibule is easy to attach. I haven't put it through the test yet to see if it will keep out the rain etc. You need to play with it to get the right fit, other than that its a nice addition to my Timberline4..Only time will tell....
I bought a vestibule to add to my Timberline 4, we already owned the Eureka Annex and use it over the entrance, I bought the vestibule to protect the back end of the tent from rain, it helps keeps the run off away from getting under the floor/drop cloth. Works well...great space for keeping other equipment out of sight and dry
Great way to add a season to a tent
The vestible was a great way to allow me to comfortably winter camp in my Timberline. It kept the cold wind out of the tent while getting in and out. It was very easy to set up and stayed up against the wind. I can't wait to use this in the spring for when it rains.
I love this product!! I've used it on many scout camping trips and it has survived the wind, rain, and snow. Plus it's easy to set up and take down. I highly recommend buying this vestibule.

A must have for added convenience and space. Great to be able to store gear outside of the tent yet have it remain protected from the weather!
Excellent accessory to tent
Excellent addition to the tent. If it rains it is an excellent area to stay dry while removing your shoes to keep your tent clean.
Very useful, adds space to tent, keep shoes/boots under vestibule and keeps everything dry, very nice during bad weather
