Great bag for kids
My dad bought this for my daughter 2 years ago. Even though it's green and she's usually a "pink" girl, she loved it. Accidentally left it out of the car on the way home, so this year I tracked it down again, found it on Campmor, and bought her another one. She loves this thing, and says it keeps her toasty warm, even up in the mountains with the fly off the tent so we can watch the stars. Great kids' sleeping bag, and light enough for my skinny 10-year old girl to pack 7 miles up the mountain (and back down). Highly recommended.
Good Solid Purchase
For our first real backpacking experience, this sleeping bag was great for my 9-year old son. I have no complaints. I'd definitely recommend it for any boy from ages 3 to 10 years old. Any older and I'd be concerned that he'd only get another year or two out of it. My son is slightly above average height for his age and I think the most he'll get is another two years of use before he outgrows it. So maybe look for something with another couple inches length if you want a bag that'll carry him into his mid-teen years.
Wish I Had Seen This Sooner!
Bought this for our six-year old. He was so excited he insisted on sleeping in it the very first night and, despite the cranked up Central Air, he was very very warm. I was worried he would be cold!
Sadly we didn't find this sooner - I really wish we had! Hopefully we'll get another season out of it, but I'm not holding my breath since he's taller than most his classmates!
Still very happy with this purchase. At this price, for this quality I won't be upset if he doesn't get to use it next year!
Just right for a kid camper
What I love about this bag is that it manages to be serious gear (i.e., truly warm enough for camping) while still being kid-friendly (i.e., fun colors, great size). Some kids' bags are really just for indoor sleepovers, or are "pretend" grown-up sleeping bags -- this one's the real deal. The only thing I don't like is the drawstring, which strikes me as a choking hazard for the youngest kids, but the drawstring can be easily removed or modified if you're worried. Overall, I love this bag and have bought one for each of my kids.
Great kid's sleeping bag
I bought two of these Grasshopper sleeping bags about 3 years ago for my first two grandsons. These last two I purchased again because they are a nice little sleeping bag for kids. Now I have two more grandsons so you understand that all of them needed a bag. Not meant to go backpacking per se, but certainly car camping, sleep overs, etc. The stuff sack that comes with them is not very quality and a better one can be secured elsewhere, however, for the price from Campmor, you can't beat these bags for kids.
Got two of these for my 3 year old twin boys. We used the bags in the summer in both a tent and a lean-to, and used them down to freezing temps in October. They slept very well every night, though we did have the kids in layers when it was cold (hat, mittens, sweatshirts, fleece pajamas) just in case.
Only down side was that one of the bags was missing the toggle on the draw string, and the strings seem to be coming apart a little bit. Nothing that really affects function, though.
This bag is great!
I purchased the Grasshopper for my son, and the Lady Bug for my daughter as Christmas gifts this year... My daughter is turning 3 and my son is 5... They both love the bags and there is plenty of room for growth for both... I would highly recommend this product to anyone who has children and likes to camp or travel... I have had a few Eureka products over the years, and for the money you cant beat em... I also liked the design and naming for the series of bags...
Great kids sleeping bag!
We love this bag! We used it for our 1 yr old this summer. We used it unzipped since our son was so small, but it kept him warm and he slept all night. His favorite part was the teddy bear pocket. Charlie bear was safe and snug too. The bag is large for him to use for many more years, and compresses really well into its own stuff sack. This was an excellent purchase and we couldn't be happier.
Bought one a year ago for my then 12 year old Boy Scout. He's small for his age, so a smaller and lighter sleeping bag was desirable. It has been great. He's used it for temps down as low as 30 and been comfortable enough. This purchse was for his younger brother who just entered teh Boy Scouts. He used it this past weekend when it got down to 34 degrees. He was a happy camper!
Snug as a bug
This bag was tested by my 6 year old son on a 30 degree night in a tent. He voiced that he was comfortable and warm. He also liked the draw string hood. For him to have made it through the night proved to me that the bags temperature rating is right on. However it is a bit bulky and should be considered a car camping bag.
