Great product. I'm 6'3", 200 lbs., and it accommodated me with room to spare. I've canoe camped many times, and this cot is not made for portaging, due to it's weight and bulk. Consider it for car camping, though, as it is nice to sleep on, with an added mattress. Because the bed sits high off the floor, you can sit comfortably on it as well, as long as you have a tent with a high enough ceiling. (Our car camping tent has 6'3" ridge, but you could use this cot with something shorter. Remember the cot's length, though, to make sure it will fit your tent. This is a new purchase so I can't comment on durability, but it appears solid. Also it's nice to store your stuff underneath. One problem: tricky to set-up. My wife agrees with the above.
This is just an initial review as I've only had it for about a week. If you are at familiar with the army cots from the 80's-90's, it's basically the same thing. The end pieces do connect a heck of a lot easier though. I use it everyday so i'll do an update in 90 days. Basically seems very sturdy and very happy with it so far.
***Update*** 11/28/2013 Had it over a year now. Used every day. Just noticed some major tears on the side of the loops that hold the canvas in place. Still usable but will wear out at some point. I weigh maybe 210 and I haven't abused the cot. I now question it's 300 lb capacity for long term.
Eureka Camping Cot
These cots are very comfortable BUT very heavy. They are very big and that is likely what makes them more comfortable. One of my cots had a rivet missing-I replaced it with a nut and bolt. Had I had more time, I would have returned it. On one of my two cots the end bars are difficult to seat on the frame. Be careful during fold up to not get pinched by the legs. I am happy with the purchase.
Awesome, Sturdy and Comfortable
Great product for anyone that gets sore sleeping on the ground. Bought an XL in addition to the L, and the Large is big enough.
Be careful, we have a large tent and these two cots took up a lot of floor space. Went from being able to sleep 6-8 to sleeping 4 when the two (2) cots were setup. Max cots in the tent are 3 due mostly to the length.
BIG AND TALL
at 6'3 225lbs. cots can run on the small side. not this beast, it is a keeper. true,it is heavy and it is bulky, no doubt. that said it is a solidly built piece of furniture. do yourself a favor and set it up a few times at home before hitting the campground. once you break the cross rails in the snap in place much easier.
The cot is really a good size-slightly smaller than a twin mattress. Initially it was hard to set up but once you discovered a way to leverage the end bars onto the frame it got much easier. Liked the packed size and weight for car camping. In my down seasons I plan on using it as a guest bed--its that comfortable.
I bought this for scout camp. The cot is very comfortable. Practice setting up the cot several times before you use it. It was difficult to set up until I figured out the trick to setting it up and taking it down. It is well built and worth every penny that I paid for it.
But this one, Just the right size.
I used this first on a weekend trip to test it out. Performed great, set it up at hime first, to expand the fabric to make it easier to set up at camp. No noise when turning over in the night and big plus. Will fit in a 4 man tent.
Good, LARGE, solid cot
I thought this cot would fit into my large tent. It did, but it only fit cross-wise across the middle of my tent. I use it now for a guest 'bed' in my home. I don't use a cot in my small tent when I backpack.
great portable bed!
Very easy to set up!! Love it. Comfortable. Will not fit in most tents because of the height, but makes a great portable bed. More comfortable than a couch, if you have a good sleeping bag...a couple blankets underneath you, and you're laughin'!!
