Exceeded My Expectations!

I am writing this review b/c so many other people's reviews helped me make a decision. I actually have the 2011 model of this tent, the copper canyon 1512, but it seems to be exactly the same.
I was looking for a tent that was big and durable and had enough room for a sleeping quarter and a seperate "chillin" quarters. this tent delivered. after reviewing hundreds of tents for weeks i finally chose this one. no dissapointments at all. we took it to a myrtle beach campground for 4 days. it was awesome. half of the tent was for a queen air mattress for me and the wife and a full air mattress for our two kids (6 and 4). had an end table b/t the two to put a fan on and glasses and stuff. could have easily fit another full size mattress in there and that was just on half of the tent. the divider, should you use it, and does not provide much privacy, cuts the 15'x12' size right in half giving you two 7.5'x12' rooms. the other half we used as a lounging area. had a camp kitchen in there, 2 adult camping chairs, 2 kids camping chairs, food, clothes and room to sit on the floor. we bought two cheap carpets b/c the floor is pretty flimsy, same material as the sides of the tent.
assembly is a snap. my wife and i put it up at the house to make sure all parts were there. the poles are kind of color coded... there are a few brown poles, and a few brown sleeves. there a few black poles, and a few black sleeves; see where i am going with this. i was pleasantly surprised when i saw this. my wife and i can put the tent up in literally 3-5 minutes, once the poles and tent are laid out. guy lines are everywhere that are pre-attached to the tent side and have little pockets to stow them so you don't have cord dangling everywhere. it has a little window in the fly at the top and the tent roof has zipper covers to let light in if you want. of all the tents i saw at the campgrounds this one was a cut way above anything i saw. no rain experienced so i can't comment on that. i am just ecstatic at how awesome this tent is. it exceeded my expectations and my wife's also.
i hate to even mention this but i have to. when setting it back up after the trip to air out and wipe off some bird pooh, which came of easily i might add, the wiring that keeps the poles connected when folded on one of the brown upright poles broke. but i called campmor, they gave me eureka's number, i faxed them my receipt on a monday and i had a new pole that friday, no questions asked. pretty sweet. i was actually praying for rain, my wife was not, just so i could see how it help up. but by what i have read from others this thing is bone dry. i look forward to many years of fun in this thing. we only had 4 people in it and it was perfect, should you want to put the said 12 people in it, you wont fit much more in there than people and sleeping bags. the tent is symmetrical as far as the doors and windows are concerned. there is an entry door on one side and caddy corner is the exact same thing, then a window on that same side and caddy corner and so on. there is a 3-4 inch zippered electrical cord opening by each door. plenty of ventilation but if you camp under trees, you may want to use the fly or you'll be wiping bird pooh off of your pillow. i've been hiking/camping in some really neat places over the years with my dad. and we always fret over weight. well this is glamping at its best. i love the scenery being 13k up but car camping definately has its perks and this tent is a great addition to the experience. i got this tent for a slammin' deal on campmor. that definately helped with my decision process. that, coupled with 4.5/5 reviews on other websites. happy glamping.

Great Tent

I purchased this tent last winter and used it over the course of the year for about 25 days. It worked fantastic. I often go camping with my two younger children and let them bring cousins, friends and about half of the time my 6'4" husband comes along. The tent is great for tall people as my husband has no trouble anywhere in the tent. The tent is extremely roomy with almost all of the space useable. The zippers are solid but will snag a bit if the tent is set up too tight. Setting up is soooo easy, only takes me 20 minutes by myself. The tent is very heavy, but holds up extremely well in high winds and rains. I did seal all seams after purchase as recommended and did not have one drop of rain in the tent and we definitely experienced some severe storms. The bottom of the tent is the same material as the sides, which did make me nervous, but no problems so far. The stakes are not high quality but worked fine. The screened ceiling made for a few amazing nights of star gazing and is great for ventilation, but the tent does not keep any heat in, so it important to bring your warmer bags, especially for the kids. The carrying bag is garbage. I do not put the poles in the carrying bag along with the tent instead just keep them in a separate bag. I love this tent and have been extremely happy with our purchase. All of our friends check it out and wish they would have paid the extra money to get a better tent.

I LOVE this tent! I bought it on account of all the good reviews and the amount of space it offers. Eureka has always been my tent of choice because of the quick and easy setup/takedown. While waiting on my husband to arrive at the campsite, I was able to throw this tent up on my own in a matter of minutes. I admit, the size of it slowed me down a bit but the poles are color coded and the design is simple enough to figure out. I had a little trouble putting up the awning thingy and the floor could be improved with heavier material considering the cost (hence the 4 star review rather than 5.) This tent is HUGE and quite heavy to carry but my husband of 6'3" is able to stand upright and the weight is alright if you're just lugging it out of the car to the tent site. As long as you fold it up correctly, the tent is very compact as well. Our family of 8 sleeps comfortably with all of our bedding and gear. The large windows offer plenty of ventilation but the curtain in between the 2 rooms is sheer. The tent is a wonderful buy and has allowed our family the luxury of space we need for all the kids while away from home.

Sturdy Car Camping Tent

Have used this tent on several trips and it has given us tons of room and protection from the elements. It is tall enough to stand up in throughout. It is constructed with heavier weight poles than many tents. Fabric is holding up well. Having doors on two sides is a plus. Windows are large and let air circulate. Little opening for an electrical cord is handy. It is too heavy for me to lift due to back issues but it would take a tornado to tear it down. The room divider would be better if it was a dark color - but we don't use it. The only thing I would really change is the awning. It catches water and is not designed to protect in a downpour which is really what you need it for.

Eureka!! I found a great tent!

We just bought this tent as an upgrade to our old tent. We cot/air mattress camp and wanted more room to walk around the sleep area. We used this tent for a weekend camping trip and were really impressed with the space inside. The inside height is plenty tall. Putting up the tent is really simple and quick and the take-down is even easier. The only downside is the lack of pockets on the tent walls. There are some pockets on the room divider, but if you don't use that then you have no pockets. Otherwise, a great tent.

The prodcut was sent out in a timeley fashion. I had to call becuase I needed it in 3 days, and even though we had some mix up with the payment, they called me and made sure it got sent out on time. The Eureka tent is very well built, easy to setup and has several places to hang things from inside. I loved the fact that it had windows on all sides, and overall, not only myself, but fellow campers next to me admired the tent.

Better rain protection

This is my first Eureka tent and, just like all the reviews say, it is very big and very easy to set up. First two days using this tent were awesome; the weather was great. We fit one full-size and two twin mattresses in it, and their is so much room left over that we could literally fit two more twins. Fast forward 3 days into my trip........It'is now 6 am, I'm sitting at a campsite in RI, and its been raining here (hard) for the past 8 hours. The rainfly is very poorly designed, they do a great job covering the sides of the tent, with lots of overhang over the windows, but there is no overhang over the doors, hence water is seeping in (at times rapidly dripping in) through the zippers and door seams; I've gone through 4 towels and some clothing to mop the water....ugh! An enhancement that Eureka can make is to provide a vestibule like covering over the doors to prevent leakage like this. Another flaw, as so many have written, is the floor (no pun intended). It is not your typical tarp-like material, it is the same material the walls are made of, so if water does get between your ground covering and the tent, water seeps through if you touch it or step on it. All-in-all this is not a bad tent. I am very disappointed in the way that the doors are handling the rain, and the floor as well, but, considering the amount of rain we are having, it's holding up pretty well. By the way, ordering the tent through Campmor was a breeze. I'm a long-time customer and have never been disappointed with their service.
